There was someone from the Labour party on Sky News this morning saying the they will reverse Sunak’s decision and revert back to a 2030 ban.
I haven’t heard that, but it will be interesting to see if that makes their manifesto, especially when results of the sort of polls mentioned above become public. It’s all very well saying it, but imposing it would be nigh on impossible by the time that they are in power.
I don’t think this will change the Conservatives fortunes enough to win them the next election though, especially with the SNP having imploded which will gift Labour quite a few seats in Scotland. My sense is that people want a change next time regardless of what happens, and Starmer is a shoe-in for PM in a year or so, even if they do back a few policies that are against public opinion.
