A few on here have said they paid by bank transfer. I think dealers are reluctant to take card payments, especially from Motability as they make so little. They could be charged up to 3.5% on your payment if you use a credit card.

I had to pay the £1,700 AP on my current 4 year old car the day before I collected, haven’t a clue why other than when I collected the car the next day the dealer was on the phone to MB about one MB customer who was in hospital and was unable to collect there car and he also had another no show MB customer that week so think they got a bit worried I would not turn up on the day.

Can’t remember how I paid now but think it was just my standard bank card.

Imagine taking a credit card payment on a £7k AP, that’s the dealership paying for you to have a car.  I can see their point.  2 days is enough time to get the transfer, have their accounts person look at the bank and identify the payment then have that verification in your file before you turn up.  It’ll save you a little time on the day or give you a little more time being shown around your new car.
