Horses for courses, home charging and short trips – especially towns and cities, no brainer, EV all the way. Lots of longish trips and/or no home charging, then not EV…simple.

Exactly. We could charge at home, but we live near a motorway and use it very regularly. I also do regular longer journeys. In both scenarios I wouldn’t want to be plodding along at 60mph battling with the HGVs in order to preserve battery life, or having to plan journeys around recharging stops that I would otherwise have no cause to make. If we didn’t use motorways and didn’t do long trips and touring holidays then an EV would be fine for us

Whilst the article quotes very high cost charging locations, which most would avoid wherever possible, you can also argue that the article quotes stated ranges of EVs rather than real world  ranges. You only have to read the experiences of EV users on this forum to realise that these are rarely achievable and the shortfalls in the winter months can be considerable. The same issue may apply to ICE cars, but to a much lesser degree. Our last few ICE cars have only lost a maximum of around 10% range in the coldest months, but that’s still leaving us with a range of around 550 miles!
