If you want to avoid dodgy MOT’s and cars then it would be better to scrap garages doing MOT’s and do what a lot of other countries do and have them done at government test centres.
As for VED on electric vehicles, its about time, it was never the intention to skip VED for electric vehicles, the govt was just waiting for enough momentum in the market to prevent sales dropping as a result – and at the moment dealers can sell every electric car they offer.
Why should EV drivers be exempt from the tax? everyone else pays it and its not a pollution tax or a road tax, its a straight to the government coffers tax.
Of course, there are issues with it, mostly its silly as a penny on fuel would raise as much cash and be proportionate, it would also capture the thousands who dont pay by one dodge or another. Then again, how do you add a penny on fuel for the EV’s…lol.
