Very true. EVs aren’t exempt from some service issues, like suspension, brakes, tyres, or faults with windows, internal electrics but the drive is where life is simpler.
There’s the inevitable, when it goes wrong, it’ll go big but the same is true for any ICE with transmission or engine failure. The difference is, again, dropping out a motor and plugging a new one back isn’t harder than doing the same for an engine except you just need to reconnect the power cables rather than fuel supply, cooling and electrics for an engine. Batteries are, again, a simple swap although the cost is eye watering, the warranty lengths are sufficient that the first and probably second owners shouldn’t need to worry. My ampera got to it’s fifth owner before it got through the warranty mileage.
The only advice for extending the life of parts. If you have regenerative braking that can bring you to a halt, once a fortnight, turn it off and use the brakes. Otherwise they’ll look like the discs of a deserted vehicle and will need replacing, not through use but rust. Clean off the surface oxidisation before it causes problems.
