Part of the confusion at Motabiity may have arisen from the fact that the 4 mild hybrid petrol DCT is ONLY available in AWD in the UK at least – which does seem a bit odd.

    It’s the opposite.

The “4” FHEV is only available in 2WD, whereas the GT Line S FHEV can be ordered with either 2WD or 4WD.

The GT Line S is the only spec that can be ordered as 4WD while not being a PHEV. Everything else (hybrid) is 2WD, or vice versa: everything is 2WD apart from all PHEVs, and a single FHEV spec (GT Line S).

This is straight from Kias configuator.

You can also tell this by looking at the brochure:

Only the GT Line S is available as 4WD FHEV.

And according to Kia themselves, that’s not the one they’re offering on the scheme – it’s the 2WD one. Davids point in regards to the £1k AP is wrong, too. The reason the GT Line S is dearer than the “4” is simply reflecting the increase in extras. The GT Line S has basically £2000 worth of options over the “”4”.

Note: all FHEVs on the Motability webpage are designated 4WD. Including the “3”, “4” and GT Line (lowest spec). None of these even exist as a 4WD car.

Now, i might be wrong as Hammerhead says, but so far i’m pretty certain, based on evidence (Kia labelling their cars correctly, Motability isn’t), that i’m not. There’s no 4WD Hybrid on offer. Where i was wrong is that i overlooked the single AWD option for MB customers, the GT Line S petrol – so there is in fact a 4WD option if you want to go pure petrol.
