While I have sympathy for the motorist, being one myself, the real danger to everyone, particularly the less well off, is the rise in the price of gas. I worked my entire life as an engineer designing oil drilling rigs, and I still don’t understand ‘the market’ and how the price is set. It’s not a market, oil and gas prices are operated as a cartel. The UK was oil and gas self sufficient, yet it was priced by others in the interests of others, not the British people. Google the ‘seven sisters’ and look at the profits made over the last hundred years, with the Anglo Persian Oil company, now called BP, leading the charge. These companies are more powerful than governments.
