Same price just a replacement as it contains more ethanol and the older vehicles can’t run it, they will have to use the super unleaded which is around 5 p per litre dearer than standard

GeorgieE10 fuel contains less carbon, which reduces the power created at the point of ignition, making the engine less efficient. Vehicles will need to burn more E10 fuel to reach the same amount of power as E5 fuel – in most cases 5% – 10% more. So any gains made on ‘cheaper’ fuel will almost certainly be wiped out by having to use more of it.
Most vehicles Build after a certain date (I think it’s 1994, but wouldn’t swear to it) should be able to run on E10 petrol. If in doubt, check if the inside of the petrol flap on your vehicle states whether it can run on E10, or check at the car manufacturer’s website.
Gov.UK also has a website listing vehicles that could be adversely affected:

5%-10% is nonsense. Try 1%-3%. From zero ethanol content to E10, not from E5 to E10. Ethanol carries 34% less energy than pure petrol. That means running purely on ethanol increases your consumption by 34%.
You will not notice a difference between normal petrol and E10. The difference between “pure” petrol and E85 is around 23% increased consumption. That’s from zero ethanol to 85% ethanol.
Second, it’s not about “cheaper”. It’s about “stretching resources” and reducing emissions.
