A facility I’d like to see on Motability is to extend the “permission” to lease cars to those disabled people who have been robbed of the right to do so by the disgraceful PIP introduction. If you lose the higher/enhanced rate, why can you not be allowed to use your own money to get a lease car from Motability? The all-inclusive nature of the scheme takes away all of the hassle and, for some, trauma of leasing/insuring/taxing and dealing with a host of people who will try to con you out of your money.

Raised this issue before and told that it can’t be done because of VAT law. So, change the law. Can’t be that difficult to change of few details on bits of paper.

Also told that it would upset ordinary, commercial lease companies who will lose business. Well, they are already doing so to full PIP holders. All the new idea would do is prevent them cashing in on PIP victims.

Extending the lease permission like this would cost the government nothing and would actually help Motability make more profit.
