Motability and Online applications?

Anyone like to guess or even know what this may mean?

I noticed in my online Motability account the wording under the MENU there in “New car application” then goes on to say “Coming soon: Start your renewal application online. We are working hard to bring you new online features, including the option to start your renewal application at home”.

Could be a Covid related thing but with online car sales taking off and more than likely still remain a thing after Covid what do you think this may mean to us.

It has been on there for many months with no progress Chris.

Knowing how slowly Motabiliy update their customer facing platform, I would expect it to be still ‘coming soon’ in about 5 years.

I do remember them saying a few years ago, it was so that you could enter your driving licence details, WPMS/PIP/DLA/AFIP award letter and a unitility bill etc  (obviously you would need a scanner) before going to a dealership. At that time they said it would still require two dealer visits (to ensure the car is suitable and then to collect it).

Obviously with remote ordering currently in operation, this has currently changed. Whether it progresses is anyones guess.

The two visits is a major hurdle for travelling distance to get a deal. Getting a few hundred pounds off is doable when travelling once but twice makes it less attractive.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.

Mine went from new car application to application approved after I had ordered my new car, in fact it was changed almost immediately, it has the pin etc on it.

The point you make about entering your driving license number is a good point because on my last change over the dealer scanned my license and later to my disappointment one of the numbers could not be made out so caused all sorts of trouble that had me having to ring DVLA to give Motability the permission to talk to them about my license.
Why the dealer or Motability could not just ring me and ask I don’t know.
