You are wrong there. We facilitated the breakup and sale of British manufacturing because of the financial fees involved. The city got rich, individuals made fortunes…look at MG and we lost our manufacturing. We never supported car manufacturers because the city made more breaking it up. As for playing by the rules in the EU, if we believed all the rubbish spewed out by a right wing press we would believe the EU official ate babies too. We could have done what the French did. We chose not too so because of the influence of the city. Even America, bastion of capitalism has rules about foreign ownership…we could not care less as long as there is a fast buck in it. We sell everything off. Everything….and the money goes to the money men., the facilitators in the city. They don’t even risk their own money. They act as intermediaries and then the papers, which they own, blame the EU, and the gullible believe it. You pay them to consult, you pay them to find buyers, you pay them to source funds, then they handle the acquisition. What do they produce? Nothing. What do they earn? Billions. And like MG, the business was fattened up for stripping and sale by government money, sourced by the city.
