Wednesday 22nd July 2020, the day I went to the electric car, so some observations after flinging it around a bit.

First thing was the range anxiety, it’s like riding your motorbike with a range of about 150 miles & always looking out for the next garage. So it’s something I’ve already dealt with from another vehicle & something I’m already over, just plan the journey.

7kW charging, yes, used a charge post at Waitrose/John Lewis in Horsham, 14kW hours taken, mercilessly, without payment, free electric is good stuff. Many thanks to Waitrose for that first charge.

50kW charging, yes, used both a CYC Rapid & a Polar Rapid, the Polar Rapid failed the handshake process 1st time then was fine the second time, the CYC Rapid worked first time. No problems, I have a ChargePlace Scotland (CYC) card and a PolarPlus card.

Driving is pretty different from the turbodiesels I’ve driven for the last 23 years, the throttle is far more responsive in the e-2008 & the motor just flings the car up the road, I’m not missing the turbo lag, just trying not to overcook the acceleration of the electric.

Normal Mode is a happy place, it’s very responsive & quick.

Eco Mode is still better than the Alhambra 2.0 turbo diesel.

      Not used Sport Mode yet.

Handling is generally OK but I have managed to get the rear to step out on poor surfaces (scrubbing the release agent off the types officer, honest), and I have managed to spin-up the front wheels (deliberately). It handles a lot better than the SEAT Alhambra.

The cabin is fairly small so won’t suit many, rear seat space is good.

Electronics are typically French, so working them out is a pain, but so far they haven’t crashed.

Electric consumption in monsoon weather (Saturday) was about 3.3 mile per kW.

Electric consumption on dry roads in Eco, taking it easy, about 4.5 mile per kW.

So, is it a good or bad car? It’s a car for a bad girl for certain, perhaps the ideal car for a trip into London to squash an Extinction Rebellion protester when they lay in the road.

        Nice write up gothjulie.

Glad your getting to grips with the e2008GT. It does sound fun. I have 2 years to go before I start to look. So I am sure things will have change a lot, and there is more choice to choose from.

Tidy update Julie, thanks. I like the 2008 but unfortunately, although as a car it’s big enough for my needs, it’s just not tall enough for getting in/out easily for me.

Like Joss I’ve a couple years yet before I start looking in earnest but encouraged by all the new models that are being touted as coming in 21 and the claimed ranges. Really looking to go full BEV next renewal.

I just found the car for a bad girl comment funny.
