    Hi everyone.

Of course everyone is different and I have no intention of leaving Motability myself at the moment and really my thoughts are about giving up the car is linked to rumours of 12 or 18 months restricted travel as opposed to the lock-down lasting a few months.

My wife does not drive so I’m a lone disabled driver but I joked to her yesterday about getting a class 3 mobility scooter as those type of scooters are within the ranged mileage wise of what I’m doing in my car at the moment, she was not amused when she asked how do I get to the shops and who’s gong to carry the shopping home and although she is not disabled, age is creeping up on both of us.??

To be honest my thoughts on the class 3 scooter has crossed my mind in the past and I’ve often thought about giving up the car but family commitments and holidays means I need the car but personally for me the car is the means of moving my class 2 scooter about so the ideal of cutting out the middle man as it were crosses my mind often but I would be tied to a range of 15 miles with return journey and with train, planes and buses being a no go for me I’m sticking with the car until the day I become a danger to myself and others in not being abled to drive safety and hope that day does not come before the lock-down finishes.?

What I’ve been seeing out my window the past week is the lock-down is well and truly over and traffic is back to normal other than there’s no rush hour and one of my daughters has just sent me a photo 10 minutes ago of the local shopping centre that has at least 700 parking spaces is packed with no spaces for parking left, much like a normal Friday but having B & Q open its doors this week would account for some of the increases this week, but not all.

P.S. I do see the point made about were not losing money while the cars parked up but long term lay up is another matter so let’s just hope it’s not a very very long time and most of us get through these dark days.
