With a lot of Motability clients in the at risk group with isolation being suggested and probably the safest bet and having low to no income other then benefits. Were not going to get much use of our rented vehicles (Pip scarafice) over potentially the next couple of months. So how about a grace free rent period to help ease the financial burden of the next few months from the charity arm of motability.

That sounds reasonable to me, allowances are being made across all sectors in the economy…..why not mobility??

I had a new car due last week and cancelled it for that exact reason.  The vehicle would be sat on the drive for 3 months without use and the extra money would be handy.

sounds great but they done care its like someone only doing 2000 miles a year and asking for a discount of money back because someone else  is doing the max 20000 and paying to same amount

i total understand and agree but they dont care,

its like asking them to fit winter tires they dont because its not law if it was law they wood

ifd the govement stepped in and said they need to do it

But i might be wrong ,, you could always ask them

I understand what your saying but this isn’t the same scenario.

My annual mileage is less then 5k a year but the car is used everyday. Short journeys live in a city were everything is very close. I don’t have any issue with the fact my mileage is a lot less then the 20k. The car is still esstienial to my day to day life.

If where all to isolate for what looks like most of the rest of the year. The car is not going to be needed and will actually be a financial burden.

I appreciate if you had a normal pcp or loan you’d never get a chance to not repay. But as our car’s are leased through a charity there might be something they could do for us as a charitable act.

There is a case for Motability to look at. It is obvious that the Government will not consider any additional aid for The Older generation especially the likes of us The disabled.I am not looking for a handout but feel that somehow the hidden extras Heating Electric etc that now surface have to be covered. So why should the Motability Millions not be used to subsidise Advanced payments etc. Every little helps. I fully agree with the fact that some cars will not be used for the next few months and possibly beyond. Any normal lease and I would hand the car back to avoid paying for something that I cannot use and then re-lease when this Nightmare is over. So Motability what is your answer . And if any Politicians read this site maybe a little something would not go amiss. Now the can of worms is open I cant wait bto look inside and discover all your views on this. Kind regards to all and Stay Safe.

Been paying and renewing my CEA card for a few years now and still not managed to use it yet, when I thought about this isolation thing it did pop into my head about going to the movies but then of course they were going to close! Bugger!

Although not lease hire related but along the same sort of line, State-side Ford are offering payment breaks of 6 months on anyone with a new motor.

The only thing we will see to this type of thing in the UK is letter from the bailiffs saying saying pay up or we will be round your house to remove your TV. ?
