i think nowadays its on a case by case basis as many warranties exceed the 3 yrs. i extended my first motability car by 2 yrs but it was very low mileage.

on the smaller suv front ive been hunting for a while as theres just me and no added accompaniments like walkers wheelchairs or scooters. ideally something like a suzuki jimny would have been ideal but it looks like they will never be in the uk again let alone on the scheme.

i got it down to a shortish list of bmw i3, nissan juke, mini countryman,ds 3 crossback or an outside bet a mercedes b class.

in the end as i was cancelling early and would have to pay to get out early, as it happens only £50 rather than the usual £250. i needed to keep the ap down as far as possible whilst getting as much as i could. also i wouldnt get the auto grant from veterans that i usually get as i am leaving early.

so although the i3 ap came down a bit the ds3 went up and i decided the merc was just a bit too big. so that cut it to the nissan and the mini.

no discounts on the juke but a £500 contribution on the mini swung it as for the cooper s auto exclusive that would mean nothing to pay, but then bonus they advised me that i would get a prorata refund of the previous cars ap and a prorata gcb a total of nearly £500 so i added the comf/nav pack. so all in all its going to cost about a tenner at the end of the day.

but all the cars are excellant, the juke you can have really funky with some of the colour schemes, the merc definatelay had the best cabin really space age the i3 i would really have liked as electric would suit my driving distances and i just missed out on the marshalls offer by a couple of hours literally. but i am really happy with my choice of the countryman as its basically just a larger version of what i already have so i know the seats suit the leather is excellant and you get a choice of colours with no extra payment and of course british racing green.
