Hi Storyline we have the VW Sharan which has the adaptive cruise control and avoidance systems and i can confirm first hand they work very well, we received our Sharan end of June 2019 and in December i was involved in an accident where another car pulled out of a junction to cross 2 lanes of a dual carriageway to turn right off the carriageway right in front of me while i was in the second lane, i had the adaptive cruise set to 50mph with the standard distance set and at the point of impact the Sharan steared the car to the right and then the left to avoid the car and then central barrier then did a controlled stop turned engine off and put hazard lights on for me, it was impossible to avoid the car but it changed it from being a head on T bone where i would have flipped the other car to a skim of my passenger side wing.
Car was still written off but i walked away with just a sore neck where the other person had to be cut out of there car.
Motability are excellent when it comes to accidents we had a hire car fitted with a hoist and we have a new Sharan again only 6 weeks after the accident.
I highly recommend VW if it’s safety your looking for.
