Couldn’t agree more, Wigwam. As a former aviator assisted by sophisticated flight management and autopilot/throttle systems, the idea of autonomous vehicles allowing lack of driver vigilance is ludicrous IMHO. Tesla autopilot is probably the best, but the fatal Arizona collision with a pedestrian showed the folly of an inattentive driver. Machine learning will rapidly improve, but I wonder how it will cope with parked cars on narrow two way streets and a busy double mini roundabout should provide plenty of thrills. My Touran has AAC cruise control. Used it once on a quiet dual carriageway. Not for me. Pain in the proverbial. Our roads are often too busy and driving erratic even for standard cruise control
