Just going to add to this thread, my local Nissan dealership were fantastic. Friendly and welcoming and nothing changed when we asked about Motability. All the way through the process they kept us up to date with emails and video messages. At pick-up the car was in the centre of the showroom with a placard stood next to it congratulating us on our new car. There was an unveiling and we were shown around it extensively, it honestly couldn’t have been any better.
It used to be £750 or 50% of the grant amount, whichever was the least. Has that changed now because it still says the same on the Motability Foundation website.
@Wigwam No, you misunderstand, which is probably my fault as I didn’t really clarify. I mean the all-day drinkers that portray him as such. I wasn’t suggesting you didn’t know your history ?
About as English as a Taco ? Absolutely mad how people in England ‘celebrate’ him, like he’s English through and through.
So with the mobility element, your cash up front etc, that’s about £6,300 a year before you even put any fuel in it. That’s not realistic for most people. I understand that for some it’s not an issue but for the majority, that’s not possible. Sometimes I feel like I’m being priced-out of Motability. I know there’s the whole grant scheme and I know it’s cheaper than the majority of leasing deals etc but still, they should be a bit more realistic with what they’re asking.
Motability thinks we’re all minted ?
As far as I know, the grants team work on a case-by-case basis so you’d be better off just giving them a call, telling them your circumstances and they will advise you from there – https://www.motability.org.uk/charitable-grants/
See, this is why I don’t call and ask them for help, I’ve heard too many stories like this about them.
