Morning, anyone know if I can connect the + jump lead to this protruding bracket like thing, the jump start…

Tried the main xc40 forum seems no one got a clue, the online manual just shows vagueness..

It looks probable ajn, but if the car won’t start, the RAC will come and sort it out for you.

This may not apply to your car ajn but:

XC40. 2022. Change car. Starting and driving . General topics … Jump starting requires access to another car’s 12V battery as well as jump leads. Important. The charging points in mild hybrid type cars are designed for only jump starting the car itself. Do not use the charging points of mild hybrids to start other cars – the fuse for the charging circuit may be overloaded so that it stops …

I should look if that tag is physically connected to the battery post clamp.  If it is, it should be ok.

I might just take the battery off the other and charge it then, that bracket on the Volvo could be a + clamp terminal or maybe not..

Don’t seem to be any clear explanation anywhere, Thanks though Wigwam for the time and reply..

This terminal clearly states no jump leads, with a line through the jump lead image, however nothing on the main battery terminal, just that bracket thing

Even though this is the XC60 guess the same rule applies to the XC40, mild hybrid’s shouldn’t be used as a donor jump start on jump leads…

Thanks again @Wigwam for raising my suspicions further…
