RenrahsHi all, just got back from Kwik fit as I needed an emergency tyre replacement (pot holes) and was informed that motability also covers the cost of wipers and light replacements.
Is this correct? I’ve checked the website and can’t find this information.
Could someone confirm this? Thanks

Yes everything is included except fuel, oil ( if ever needed between services) and screen wash.
March 10, 2020 at 3:24 pm #108949Smallcar, sorry if it sounds like I’m doubting you but are you sure that’s correct as I’m pretty sure other posters have said all fluids are included.
Just seems a bit odd that something like engine oil which is far more expensive, “complicated” in terms of grade / topping up the amount correct and can cause serious problems wouldn’t be on the list when it makes good sense to be.
On the flip side screenwash is so cheap and easy to sort that beyond medical reasons it seems a bit daft going the the hassle of getting a dealer to sort it and adblue personally should be treated more or less the same as putting fuel in, unless again there is medical reasons for the dealer having to do it.

RenrahsThat’s interesting. So who would we usually go to for the replacement of these things? The dealer? As I only learned today that Kwik fit can replace them free of charge but they have to do a tyre inspection before they can replace anything else.

AFAIK, yes you can get the dealer to top up your oil if need be for free but personally I’ve always kept a 5 Ltr can of top graded oil to save the bother of going to the dealers and being new cars I think I’ve only ever used about half a pint of oil over the 3 years lease.
March 10, 2020 at 3:40 pm #108952First port of call is the dealer.
I am not sure if dealer would top up oil between services – it’s unlikely you will ever need to.
Another post says Adblue will be provided by dealer search Adblue in ” search forum”
March 10, 2020 at 3:55 pm #108953Thinking about it, its quite surprising what costs are covered / included in the lease. We had a puncture and predictably the tyre gunk was no help, ended up with the RAC doing a temporary plug and Kwik Fit replacing it.
A few weeks later the car went in for a minor ECU update, during the drop off I enquired as to how much the gunk would cost to replace as despite it being useless the first time round it may be needed again – the receptionist went to check with the parts department and it turns out its considered maintenance and included in the lease, no doubt the dealer would have billed Motability but it was replaced at no cost to me.
March 10, 2020 at 4:04 pm #108954Let’s remember not everyone is able to do what others find relatively easy, if need be you even have them put air in the tyres. Just add fuel/electric really is the easiest way to look at it, and of course cleaning the vehicle for those that choose too.

Clipped wingsVisited the dealer for first time since delivery ( car collected for service) and both wiper blades replaced due tear in one. 5 minutes and just wanted mileage for Motability. Salesman less impressive as wanted me to order new Touran before I get my letter in a few weeks. Politely declined. Flat refusal for any ap contribution. Might ring around.
March 10, 2020 at 4:18 pm #108956^ Very true JS and this is why I mentioned medical reasons, didn’t want it to come across as calling anyone lazy for having the dealer do such things.
March 10, 2020 at 6:49 pm #108962Just before xmas had a problem with the wipers . so popped into my local dealer and they changed them within 10 mins. The oil light came on a while back now, so popped in they filled it up. no charge.. I believe it’s only fuel and screen wash and keeping the car clean we liable for.. although vw always clean and hoover the car.. which helps coz i cannot..
March 10, 2020 at 7:15 pm #108967Had a nice phone call from our local Ford dealer (I withhold the dealers name) my Kuga is now due for it 3 year service and MOT, and is there anything they could do etc, yeah when I need them to look at our Kuga they were rude and put the phone down, on 2 occasion I asked about the Satnav updated they ignored me, now they are apologising for not carrying it out (I cannot find my own house on the Ford satnav, but can on my Garmin and iPhone)
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

I don’t even bother going to the local ford anymore, It’s clear they don’t care. so i don’t want a car from them or even to have them touch a car i drive.. after a real bad experience(not ford related)
i very careful who i get to service a car i drive and put my family in…That starts with their attitude the moment you walk threw the door.
Everytime i been to look at a certain car i like, they don’t have one for a test drive ( even in a different trim or spec) but it’s not the reason.. It’s the attitude and thats before you buy a car.. I’m hyper sensitive to it, I guess and i just walkout, coz i got mental issues… like i wanna ford anyway…
March 11, 2020 at 8:59 am #108988Yeah, some dealers just baffle me with their attitude, they are clearly doing you a very begrudged favour for taking money from your pocket. And I blame us, the customers. Vote with your wallet, dealer a bit crap? Go somewhere else, either another dealer, same make, or wherever. Its the only way things will change.
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
March 11, 2020 at 10:55 am #108990Agreed, my local Ford (Bristol Street) is excellent, my local Skoda (Pulman) is also excellent but their VW branch is terrible, no interest in Motability sales, it’s an effort for them to find the time of day to even talk to you.
Ordered my Tiguan from Ashley at JCT600 in Wakefield, almost 100 miles away but extremely helpful and courteous plus the added bonus of £600 off the AP, what’s not to like!! 🙂
Getting back to Motability’s benefits, apart from one Kwik Fit branch in Washington I’ve found the service to be excellent. I did get a funny look off the RAC man when he came out for a puncture!, I had to explain that being a large 6′ 5-1/2″ Geordie didn’t automatically mean I could bend down (and certainly not crouch or kneel!) and be able to change my own wheel!!.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

March 8, 2024 at 2:31 pm #265502For those with diesel cars the dealers will also add Adblue as part of contract.
Someone posted on here recently that has stopped but I messaged Motability last week and they confirmed it is still included and I got mine topped up for free.

Why bump a 4 year old thread to say that?
