Will the problems ever stop?

This work is definitely cursed, I sent in the final invoice for the battery installation over a month ago. I’ve called The Energy Trust a number of times asking when they will be paying the invoice, each time they said it was in the pipeline and I would receive it shortly.

Last week I recieved a phone call telling me they weren’t paying the invoice as I hadn’t complied with the terms they set out in our original agreement. They said I hadn’t sent a final account from my installer. I explained he has gone into liquidation, which I had told them many times. They are saying they understand the problem but rules are rules.

Ive complained about this and they’ve sent it to the Scottish Government for a final decision.

So just waiting now for them to get back to me, it’s been a nightmare.

That sounds like a real mare for you pal. The idea that the ‘computer says no’ is just ridiculous and lacks any real understanding of the issue. And it’s taken me 20 seconds to work it out, so why not them? Idiots. You must be at your wits end with it.

I hope you get it sorted out to your satisfaction.

It’s been a nightmare from start to finish. I agree it’s really straight forward I have done everything I can in accordance with the agreement. How I can be at fault for a company going burst is ridiculous.

Every thing is complete, I’ve had an updated Energy Performance Certificate that details the ASHP, Solar and Battery storage is in place so what’s the problem?

I think that’s a couple of weeks since they sent it to the Scottish Government so hopefully find out soon what they say.

Your defunk installer, should have been HIES or had Insurance Backed Gurantee (IBG), as part of being MCS registered.

You should look on companies house, to see if the company has stopped trading or sprouted up under a new name. The MCS should help with any insurance they had. Proof the company went bump will also help.

Then it’s a waiting game till Gov Scotland respond, but any above information may help if they request it.

Ofgem or similar, will have the final say, but Citizens Advise may be helpful in the first instance and especially if you take it to court.

Thanks for that Kezo. The company have gone down the tubes.

Im still waiting on the Energy Trust to come back to me and I’m not exactly clear on what they are proposing. Initially they were talking about me paying money back to them but I think I’ve persuaded them that every penny they gave me was passed to the installer. I sent them receipts for every payment I passed to the installer.

If I’m understanding them they are talking about keeping the battery instal payment as this is a different installer, even though I got permission from them to change to the new installer. So £6,000 is what they were due to pay me as I’ve paid the new guy, (as he wouldn’t install the batteries unless a paid for them upfront), and sent receipts for the payments to them.

MP’s or rather the Scotish version of them are normally useful in these situations!

I’m still hoping they see sense as they are trying to encourage people to go green and I feel I’ve done my bit on that score.

As it stands I’ve paid the installer every penny they passed to me. The Air Source Heat Pump, the Solar and the batteries are all in place and working. I’ve had an EPC carried out that now designates my house as category A efficient. The second installer has been paid by me with the invoices sent to the Energy Trust. So everything is as it should be except a final completion invoice from a defunked installer.
