I know very little about those being talked about as the next Prime Minister but going on the basis that nobody could be worse than BJ I am relaxed about who gets the job, as long as it’s not Liz Truss.
So I’m sure there are members who have a deeper knowledge of those being touted so it would be good to hear your views and comments.

The Daily Flail seems to be backing Ms Mordaunt and trashing Fishi Rishi. Well, hardly surprising, for a paper which got us out of the EU to stop having so many foreigners on our high streets. It just wouldn’t be the done thing to back a non-WASP candidate. PM Penny, it is then..?
July 14, 2022 at 7:38 am #190702Happening today: There will be hustings before the One Nation caucus between 10 a.m. and noon. Voting to determine today’s weakest link will take place between 11.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., with the results announced at 3 p.m. Anyone with fewer than 30 votes will be eliminated — and if all of them meet that threshold, then the last-placed candidate is out. Braverman — who scraped through yesterday — is the one to watch
July 14, 2022 at 11:12 am #190741Which ever white person who goes up against Sunak will be chosen by the 1800 white, middle class, middle aged, mostly men Conservative party members.
I am just guessing of course as right wing doesn’t mean racist, apparently.

The poll numbers are expected to be between 140,000 and 160,000 members, most of whom are older males.
Over half of the members are over sixty and tend to be in the top three wealth bands, so why worry about the future when you’re already part of an ageing well off group.
97% are white which makes it easier for a candidate like Liz Truss to appeal to inbuilt prejudices, with the assistance of braying idiots such as Rees-Mogg, Nadine Dorries etc.
I hope that the conservative members voting will have learnt a hard lesson with the recent fiasco that has been Boris Johnson, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
It’s wrong that approximately 0.4% of the voting population should be able to impose such an important decision on the rest of the population, but that sadly is what you get with ‘Party Politics’.
July 14, 2022 at 12:59 pm #190755Funny though how the conservatives have had women leaders and prime ministers yet labour have not.
How short people’s memories are that in the last labour leader ballot, was it not the only man that won and some of female’s running was asking for him not to run so it could only be a women that won.. Lets not mention the women only shortlists for mp’s seats also.. Yet it’s only the other party that has selected women to lead their party.
They all as bad as each other why, because they work for the same master’s. They cause chaos, so then they can offer the solutions already set out and which are completely different to what they tell the people. it’s all an illusion to make us think it’s real and they work for the voters and to divert attention.
If you’re not part of the cabal you’d not get anywhere near being an mp for a mainstream party. never mind being the leader. The next person is always worse and then they go and are replaced by the next rabbit in the headlights.
If sunak don’t get to be pm it’s because they’re racist, is about where we are in society today and is his trump card, How did he get into the party and put forward as an mp if they racists.
Not that he was at the helm that got us into this mess, he says he will tackle inflation and will not lower taxes but how will he when it’s a global issue and it was on his watch it started rising. Oct if energy goes up maybe by 60% thats 114% in a year. Not like they can hide it anymore, cannot really make a mars bar any smaller can they. The great reset is coming and who will be left holding the can and get the blame not those before the one holding the can when it happens.
July 14, 2022 at 1:50 pm #190757I think Brydo is just being provocative. At least I hope so because he must have noticed the number of conservative MPs who are not white and who have become MPs after being proposed as candidates by some of those “1800 white, middle class, middle aged, mostly men Conservative party members.”
Have ever looked at the audience at a Conservative Party conference, Brydo?
July 14, 2022 at 3:19 pm #190763Braverman out. Tugendhat likely to withdraw.

He was also shown to be disloyal to Johnson, having his website as a candidate ready six months before he resigned from the cabinet. And then he wants voters to let him fix the economic problems his policies created. I don’t think so, struth. Also he has no personality – not that that’s stoped people being Prime Minister in the past.

July 14, 2022 at 5:24 pm #190796Lord Frost lashes out at Mordaunt as Tory leadership race turns nasty
Former Brexit minister Lord Frost has launched a scathing attack on Tory leadership contender Penny Mordaunt, saying she was not up to the job when she was his deputy in talks with the EU.
Lord Frost said she lacked a grasp of the detail, was unwilling to deliver tough messages to Brussels, and that he had to ask Boris Johnson to replace her.
He said he has “grave reservations” about whether Ms Mordaunt – who is currently the international trade minister – is now fit to be the next prime minister.
He told TalkTV: “I would not feel able to serve in a ministerial team under Penny Mordaunt. That’s how strongly I feel about that. I felt I had to make that clear today. MPs are voting today and I think they need to know the facts.
Frosty on a wobble!
July 14, 2022 at 5:28 pm #190799He’s not the only one critical of her work ethic and ability. Interesting that none of ministers in her department are backing her.
July 14, 2022 at 5:32 pm #190801well i’d take anything the mail wrote as dodgy lol, as i would anything from frost.. have to say if i was voting for a tory i would be johnston.. he was a dick but you could know how he worked. anything to make him popular lol.

July 15, 2022 at 9:30 am #190855The “Liz Truss for PM” BJ mini me supporters are in full swing to ensure she is in the final two. She would be the Tory members choice and would probably pick her no matter who she was up against but to pitch her against Sunak, even better.
