I know very little about those being talked about as the next Prime Minister but going on the basis that nobody could be worse than BJ I am relaxed about who gets the job, as long as it’s not Liz Truss.
So I’m sure there are members who have a deeper knowledge of those being touted so it would be good to hear your views and comments.

The very same.
Address to a Haggis
Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o’ the pudding-race!
Aboon them a’ ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm :
Weel are ye wordy o’a grace
As lang’s my arm.The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o’need,
While thro’ your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An’ cut you up wi’ ready sleight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like ony ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin’, rich!Then, horn for horn, they stretch an’ strive:
Deil tak the hindmost! on they drive,
Till a’ their weel-swall’d kytes belyve
Are bent like drums;
Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
Bethankit! hums.Is there that owre his French ragout
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad make her spew
Wi’ perfect sconner,
Looks down wi’ sneering, scornfu’ view
On sic a dinner?Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
As feckless as wither’d rash,
His spindle shank, a guid whip-lash;
His nieve a nit;
Thro’ bloody flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread.
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He’ll mak it whissle;
An’ legs an’ arms, an’ heads will sned,
Like taps o’ thrissle.Ye Pow’rs, wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o’ fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu’ prayer
Gie her a haggis!The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

July 13, 2022 at 10:21 am #190611Voting will start at 13:30, with a result expected at 17:00 BST.
Kemi Badenoch, Suella Braverman, Jeremy Hunt, Penny Mordaunt, Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Tom Tugendhat and Nadhim Zahawi have all secured the required 20 nominations from Tory MPs to make it onto the ballot later.

July 13, 2022 at 10:30 am #190615The smart money appears to be on Chancellor Rishi Sunak, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, and Penny Mordaunt are perhaps the most likely to make the final three.

It will probably be a battle between Fishy Rishi and Liz Truss. With Truss becoming the next PM.
Not overly keen on the selection but that is my wager 🙂
July 13, 2022 at 10:37 am #190619Sadly, I agree, kezo. Truss is thick and malleable, so an ideal choice.
July 13, 2022 at 10:37 am #190620It all seems so egotistical, from the process to the candidates. The lending of votes to make sure some people are knocked out prematurely, see Boris lending votes to Hunt to get rid of Gove at the last leadership campaign. I understand the the Tories are trying to ‘reset’ and put the failed Boris experiment behind them but I go back to the quote that it’s an application for the ‘first violinist on the Titanic’
Whatever happens the next couple of years are going to be challenging.
July 13, 2022 at 10:39 am #190621The objective is to restore control of the country by WEF shills. Most of the candidates fit the bill.
July 13, 2022 at 10:50 am #190624July 13, 2022 at 10:50 am #190625Fishy Rishi’s team already up to dirty tricks ? (link posted in what caught your eye in todays news thread)
July 13, 2022 at 11:29 am #190629What are you scared of @wigwam. Don’t you trust Prince Charlie?
I seem to be having a thicko moment here. Are you saying prince charles is running for leadership ?
Or should I just go back to bed?
July 13, 2022 at 11:34 am #190630Not a bad idea. Hide under the covers until it’s all over.

Probably good advice there @Wigwam
Interesting YouGov poll.
July 13, 2022 at 1:39 pm #190648Already said my wager and there all in it. None of them are my cup of T really.
Ideally someone who can stand up to the EU and who is a brexitard and not a remoaner ?
July 13, 2022 at 1:55 pm #190653July 13, 2022 at 2:07 pm #190656Andy Burnham says ‘we need to start demanding a General Election’ as he slams Prime Minister candidates for ‘abandoning’ levelling up.
July 13, 2022 at 2:14 pm #190658Must be as deluded as Sturgeon demanding a referendum.
With an 80 seat majority the conservatives don’t need to give other parties anything.
July 13, 2022 at 4:37 pm #190674July 13, 2022 at 5:22 pm #190677Looks like the Tory membership are going to be offered Sunak and Mordaunt, and they will choose Mordaunt.
