I know very little about those being talked about as the next Prime Minister but going on the basis that nobody could be worse than BJ I am relaxed about who gets the job, as long as it’s not Liz Truss.
So I’m sure there are members who have a deeper knowledge of those being touted so it would be good to hear your views and comments.

What is the state we are in Brydo?
July 10, 2022 at 7:50 pm #190412Maybe
Jeremy Hunt
Penny Mordaunt
Tom Tugendhat
Liz Truss
Not really
Nadine Dorries (Didn’t know as culture secretary ch4 was owned by the government)
Grant Shapps (handed millions to Govia Thameslink Railways (GTR) after a few days earlier fining them)
Definitely not
Sajid Javid
Nadhim Zahawi
Suella Braverman
Kemi Badenoch
Priti Patel
Rehman Chishti
Rishi Sunak
July 12, 2022 at 2:59 pm #190531Kezo Sunak is one of the favourites to win and I think he would be a “safe pair of hands”. The Tories must go for someone like him after the BJ debacle. Liz Truss is the opposite to this she is very similar to BJ in that she is easily swayed and doesn’t appear very intelligent or to have a grasp of the facts .
She has the initial 20 votes but I can’t see her as a serious contender, I have been wrong before ?.
Truss now joins Rishi Sunak, Penny Mordaunt and Tom Tugendhat as the contenders who have so far reached the support of 20 MPs ahead of tonight’s 18:00 BST deadline.

Starmer wants to waste everyone’s time tomorrow calling a vote of no confidence which he will obviously lose.
July 12, 2022 at 3:08 pm #190533I’m sure I read Sunak recently spent a week in the USA speaking with big health insurance firms. Will this lead to privatisation of the NHS? Is getting private firms involved with the NHS a bad thing? My GP already sends us to a private hospital for scans.

He has a lot of stuff hanging over his head we know of does our iffy fishy rishi.
As @Jojoe pointed out he wants to privatise the NHS.
What the Tory’s want/need is someone who will win elections and fishy rishi isn’t the one to do that.
July 12, 2022 at 4:04 pm #190539I think Mordaunt is a dark horse.
July 12, 2022 at 4:08 pm #190540I think Mordaunt is a dark horse.
She has definitely been called worse.
July 12, 2022 at 4:19 pm #190541not one of them i’d give a dime to, look after quite frankly.

July 12, 2022 at 5:05 pm #190544Politics live: Boris Johnson loyalists back ‘stop Rishi’ candidate Liz Truss
July 12, 2022 at 5:37 pm #190545Kezo as they say “I’ve no skin in the game” but I think he would be pretty stupid to openly go to America to discuss privatising the NHS. I think it’s clear the BJ groupies are working hard to ensure he doesn’t get the job which is fine, it’s a dirty game, but to offer liz Truss up as a sort of mini me BJ is the wrong horse to bet.

Successful contenders will go through to a vote on Wednesday, with the final two candidates selected before the end of next week
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps earlier pulled out and endorsed former chancellor Sunak, along with Deputy PM Dominic Raab

Looks like it’s Sunak versus either Mordaunt or Truss. Not very inspiring…

July 12, 2022 at 6:28 pm #190553July 12, 2022 at 6:35 pm #190554Hopefully Rees-Mogg and Dorries backing Truss should sabotage her bid.
July 12, 2022 at 6:37 pm #190555I would of liked to have seen Ben Wallace enter, but he has prioritised his family over constant ridicule.
Personally the remaining candidates don’t float by boat as becoming PM, nor are they election winners. So if they don’t call one when they come into office, we only have untill May 24 to vote them out.
