I know very little about those being talked about as the next Prime Minister but going on the basis that nobody could be worse than BJ I am relaxed about who gets the job, as long as it’s not Liz Truss.
So I’m sure there are members who have a deeper knowledge of those being touted so it would be good to hear your views and comments.

Caroline Lucas.
July 9, 2022 at 9:22 am #190258Don’t want any of them. They are mostly million-/billionaires and couldn’t care less about the ordinary Mk 1 citizen. Most accurate way to predict who will get the job is see who the Daily Flail says is the best. Selection committee will go with that because the Flail will make sure the win the next election. And that’s all they care about – not the Ukraine war, not the inflation horror, not the impending death of the NHS. Just being in power is all that matters.
July 9, 2022 at 9:31 am #190259It’s unlikely to matter much who we get. The Globalists of the WEF are in charge.
July 9, 2022 at 10:02 am #190263Boris has set the Tories back a decade, they can dress up behind the drama of appointing a new leader with their committees and try to divert attention but it’s a slow motion car crash with a different driver. Personally I’m looking forward to the Labour – Lib Dem coalition in 2024. It’s exactly what this country needs.
July 9, 2022 at 10:19 am #190265It does not matter who is in government, the last time Labour were in power they were no different from the Tories.
Whoever is in power were all going to get shafted
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally say the wrong thing.
July 9, 2022 at 11:02 am #190268Well guys thanks for all the positive posts, they’ve really cheered me up ?

I would also favour a Labour/Lib dem coalition. The sooner the better.

This IMO will push those voters to stick with the Tories which is the English peoples natural home anyway.

You’re a bit ahead of yourself though. The next GE isn’t until 2024.

Think I know what you mean @File28 she is also a astute politician and having sampled the “School of hard knocks” has empathy with those of us who are not millionaires.
I think a coalition of SNP and Labour would be a refreshing change and a welcome alternative to the current. ”corruption is good” gov we have at present.
July 9, 2022 at 4:28 pm #190302Nah. Give it to Larry the cat. Even a cat can make a better job of it than our politicians. Larry’s much like Boris anyway: like all cats, he knows he is right and cannot do anything wrong. ?
July 9, 2022 at 7:05 pm #190324the cat couldn’t do much worse. at least there would be food on table … of the tories, i’d have preferred the mod guy who isnt standing. i expect jeremy hunt to get it.

Honest, decent and empathetic, someone who genuinely believes that how you feel is more important than how he or she feels.
An intelligent back bencher with experienced management skills would fit the bill …. but it almost certainly won’t happen.
Professional politicians have dragged this country into the gutter.
July 10, 2022 at 5:19 pm #190398Brexit still hasn’t got done Joss, that’s the problem. The German economy is going down the pan. At least we are protected from the consequences of that
July 10, 2022 at 5:37 pm #190400Fair point Wigwam, but will it ever get done. I have not heard anything from the prospective candidates on getting it done. Just tax cuts.

Unfortunately our next PM will be chosen by 2,000 middle aged, middle class, right wing, south of England Tory members ?????

Take back fishing rights, bring NI back into the country, deal with illegal immigration are a few of the things. Badenoch talks the talk but is unlikely to get into the run off.
July 10, 2022 at 6:02 pm #190403The problem is the candidates who the wider Conservative party get to chose from will be decided by vested interests, Brydo. They won’t have choice of anyone else.
July 10, 2022 at 7:02 pm #190408The money, fishing and Northern Ireland are the brexit deal. That’s what Boris signed up to. Brexit is done and look at the state we’re in.
