……as soon as they’ve got the latest one on the driveway!

Lol. I can’t be the only one ? October ’22  will be the next one but I’m already mulling upcoming models over, more often than not EV’s now because the 200+ range models seem to be really coming on stream now, either already or due to make an appearance 20/21.

VW ID range has certainly caught the eye.

I started looking at q4, don’t change until Feb 2021 (collection day) so probably not too early.

I have an x-trail facelift, but need something with a slightly larger or longer boot. I have to put my mobility scooter sideways when 5 seats used and need the height getting in and out. Looking at tarraco, 5008, kodiak like the idea of Outlander phev but not sure.

Well, I try not too but must plead, well, a bit guilty. Don’t start really searching until about six months before handover. My “can order now” date is in Q4 and handover is in Q1 so am constantly balancing the chance of a Q4 car falling off list before I order OR ordering a Q4 one only for something better to hit in Q1.

This time I ordered Mini 3-door Cooper S at last knockings of Q4 just in case Powers That Be noticed it is a enjoyable, fun little car which can be  relatively prompt when asked. Notice that a few others in this thread are also considering or have ordered the Cooper S – what made your minds up in favour?

For me it was the ease of entry etc with the long doors of the 3-door beating the 5-door. Space inside the front is surprisingly large and seat- and steering wheel- adjustment giving comfortable driving position.  BMW’s 2.0 litre coupled to the 7-speed auto gearbox gets good reviews. The 2.0 litre is going to be well under-stressed in 99per cent of everyday motoring and will therefore do everything smoothly and in a relaxed manner. Test drive bore out all of these aspects and I found that this is not a car that you climb into and sit down in to drive; it feels like you’ve strapped it to your back and it’ll take you somewhere!

Only downside is the confusing array of lights, flashing widgets, and bleeping bizzos which are splattered over the dash and steering wheel with the apparent express intention of distracting your attention from the road. Most of these can be silenced/turned off and I can, I hope, ignore the rest. In sport-mode, the engine note is directed into the cabin to make it sound more sporty with pops, bangs and overrun noise. Silly, but I might get to like it!

i have the cooper auto 3dr 1.5 (seven) a special edition they did with the posh leather and a chilli pack.

likewise i went for the 3 dr as its easier to get in and out of compared to the 5 door and i dont have anyone/thing that needs to get in the back so its not an issue. the 1.5 is fine for me and the sports mode revs it up a notch lol. as the cars not that heavy its fine.

i am changing early for a countryman as ive slipped a disc so the back is shot and they arent going to operate anytime soon so the 3dr is just that bit too low.

this time i have gone for the 2.0l cooper s as the car is considerably heavier and the test drive confirmed it needs that bit more oomph. at least i think so, for the less lead footed the 1.5 would be ok but not as much fun lol.
