ajnWhat do you like or dislike about your current Motabililty car..
I can’t be enjoying mine so much as I’ve not gone over 10,000 miles yet had it a while now, 12/2020
Usually do that mileage easy enough, maybe I’m just not enjoying driving these days with so many changes on the road, and the expense to do so..

ajnHowever that aircon in the heat great, keeps people calmer on the road or sitting in traffic, we’ll it do for me anyway ?
July 22, 2022 at 2:28 pm #191427Skoda Octavia Estate Mild Hybrid. Love the looks of it, it’s our first estate. The mild hybrid system is good, it gives you a message on the dash to take your foot of the accelerator, the car then coasts using the battery, I love watching the MPG climbing towards 60 whilst the rev counter is at zero. Dislike the drivers seat, I’m forever twisting the wheel at the side to move the seat back forward, I’m sure it’s faulty.

July 22, 2022 at 9:02 pm #191462I recently got a new suzuki Vitara mhev (off the scheme) and really like the regeneration when coasting or braking and every time I go down a hill I take my foot of the gas and it’s great seeing the bars go up. Actually got the 48v battery full today 5 bars as I turned of the aircon.
It then uses that battery power to give a boost when needed and to restart the stop start system (which is instant) which is something I hated before on other cars, i’ve had with stop/start as there was a delay and it runs stuff when the cars engine is off. You can set the aircon to eco, standard or comfort when stop start is on also..
Guess what i don’t like is that? as it doesn’t have an electronic handbrake when you use adaptive cruise and come to a total stop behind a car, it then cannot hold the car without you putting your foot on the brake and if you remove your foot from the brake pedal, say you put it in N and put handbrake on the engine starts.
But hey ho i got used to that now, just how it is, no cars perfect imo. Everything else i really like alot and very happy with my choice as it’s something i might keep for as long as it’s viable to do so.

IanI’ve driven a patrol golf from the Lakes to Rheims in the last couple of days, nightmare wait at the ferry terminal at Dover. Not enough resource in place to check and stamp passports
Adaptive cruise control and lane centring!
First experience and really impressed. So easy to use.

July 23, 2022 at 8:46 am #191489Like: Ventillated seats (godsend in recrnt weather)
Dislike: Fuel economy dreadful.
Also should have had an auto as condition worsened. Problem nothing on scheme that ticks all the boxes.
July 23, 2022 at 1:46 pm #191524Mercedes Benz B180 Sport Premium Plus
Like;
Clever use of space, very roomy car considering it’s built on the A Class platform.
Build quality is generally very good.
Equipment levels.
I got £3500 off the AP, couldn’t have afforded it otherwise.
Dislike;
Keyless entry system is intermittent and needs resetting regularly.
Driver assistance systems are set to “snowflake” by default. They can be altered but it’s a faff and goes back to default every time you cycle the ignition.
You can’t change the sensitivity of the automatic wipers.
Terrible DCT gearbox. Jerky as hell at low speeds and takes an eternity to go into reverse.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

You reminded me of another dislike with the Tuscon. You have to bloody turn on auto hold every time you get in it. Every other car Ive had you either turn it on or off and it stays like that.
July 27, 2022 at 11:02 am #191933VW T-ROC 2.0L petrol 4motion.
Primary Like is the powertrain and performance. Satisfying and rewarding to control; you can put the car exactly where you want it to be. The 4motion actually feels a bit like rear-drive at times – also completely does away with scrabbling front wheels when pulling away promptly or from a corner.
Primary Dislike is the damnable digital rubbish, particularly the “driver assistance” stuff. Have to turn off the front assist, lane keeping etc. etc. before pulling off. Far too much blinky, flashing, unwanted data coming at you from screens. Touchscreen is just too dangerous to use when under way. Even when you tell it to turn off the big centre touchscreen, it won’t. It displays a flashing clock and continues to put up meaningless, indecipherable messages (about “privacy settings”!?)
July 27, 2022 at 12:24 pm #191948
ajnTouch screens seem as dangerous as texting on a phone imo..
July 27, 2022 at 1:08 pm #191956i have the mini countryman and i love the dials and buttons.
the hates are the nanny state collision avoidance rubbish, we have plain trees around us and they have leaves the size of dinner plates and if one alls in front of you the syystem assumes its a small child and slams the anchors on. not found the off switch yet.
not looking forward to changing the car at lease end as the new ap’s will no doubt exclude the countryman from my available list assuming they come back at all by then. pretty much everything else has touch screens which as has been said i reckon are dangerous. i struggle with my phone so i will be stuffed with one in the car.
July 27, 2022 at 1:49 pm #191960Collision avoidance, can be very hit and miss and on most cars I have had I have turned it off, usually a button or in the menu, as well as lane departure and off road mitigation.
On the golf we had the sun sometimes would even set it off, but putting your foot on the gas overided it, but on the civic we had next you could not override it and after a few times of a car behind almost crashing into us as the car did an emergency stop when you went to go around a car turning into a left turn.
I do on the motorway find lane keep assist very useful and I use adaptive cruise alot, couldn’t be in a car without it.
Not had mini so wouldn’t know, but sure you it must be able to deactivate it.

ajnUsed Mrs ajn’s keys today to put the car in the garage earlier, her setting stored, my body in the drivers seat..
seat went up and forward I thought the thing was never going to stop, ended up jammed into almost every component surrounding the seat..
Do these things stop at all under strain, like a closing boot lid or electric window… this drivers seat was determined to squash anything it could ?
July 27, 2022 at 11:24 pm #191994
ajnLove the App & fob control boot close/lock function, also the reminder/ notification I’ve left it wide open yet again.
