i placed an order over the phone 5 weeks ago for a Golf the salesman said he would be in touch a few days later to confirm the order has gone through ok and give me the order details, but 5 weeks later and after 3 phone calls to the salesman despite him assuring me the order is with the factory he still hasn’t emailed me the order number, could this just be an oversight on his behalf , i’m now starting to have doubts if he has actually put the order in, any advice what to do now would be helpful, thanks

Personally I would ring motability immediately, they will be able to tell you the state of your order from their perspective,  if they have received all the appropriate documentation from the dealership you shouldn’t have any issues,  other than the expected minimum 6 months delivery delay currently ongoing

thanks for the reply Markw, ive got the letter from motability with the pin number but i’m just a bit concerned that the dealer seems reluctant to send me the order number, i’m ok with the long wait but would just like peace of mind that the order is with the factory.

We cancelled our touran order, as we ordered on November 3rd, and didn’t get any close to a build date by the 7th May.

hi Gary, that’s not good think i would have cancelled too, did they send you the order number when you first ordered so you could use the online tracker ?

Insist on order number or you will cancel, ask to speak to sales manager for the order number from them to vw so you can track yourself,if he does make sure to delete the order number on vw website every few days and then re-enter as the tracker does not auto update

From past experience I would be concerned, if they had an order number then why not just give you it or leave it at reception?  Be careful they do not try and fob you off with an “in-stock” car (nothing wrong with those unless you are expecting a brand new factory made car to order 🙂 )

No, didn’t get one, they said I would once they had a confirmed build week.

I had concerns that Lookers were in trouble so decided a 5 month wait with no concrete info was long enough, so although we will probably have to wait longer for our car, its on our terms again.

Though typically we were going to get a B class until they pulled the Premium Plus spec.  Now looking at the xc40 t5 recharge

Interested to see what they end up telling you I’ve been look at a golf, although it’s still a little while before I can order, and have seen a few people in the ownerd forum and Facebook saying the VW have delayed or paused production due to tech issues. There does seem to quite alot of folks complaining about errors message and software updates issues with the tech.

VW order tracker ain’t working. VW UK website says it cannot offer the tracker service any more. Suggests you contact your dealer. Would it be cynical to suggest that VW’s tracker computer has run out of chips, just like its cars?

Try contacting vw by Facebook or twitter messenger you might have some luck that way I did with my seat and I know skoda will only track with an order number
