Volvo EX30 negative reviews.

There seems to be a theme of negative reviews coming in with a lot of negativity after living with the vehicle or extended testing.

I find it very interesting since this vehicle won the UK car of the year accolades from many different reviewers.

Despite customers only taking delivery from February this year Volvo has already did a model year update already which will address some of the issues being experienced by owners and reviews, but that means there are a lot around with the older MY24 issues.

Most of the negativity comes seems to be directed at same things about the vehicle, bearing in mind this is Volvo’s most profitable vehicle.

Volvo delayed delivery the delivery of the EX30 for the second time in January.

I wonder if this is the same for the Smart #1 as they are built alongside each other in the same factory.

No it does not seem to be, seems to be unique to the EX30, however both cars do use different software, so it would be unique to EX30, that being said since the Smart #1 has been out for over a year you would think there would have been feedback and any adjustments implemented since all the sensors are the same.

One of the key issues seems to be the the steering wheel buttons that simply don’t function correctly on the EX30, with these being the very few buttons the vehicle has that they would have made them function as they should.

As a bit of a Volvo fan, I was really disappointed when I crawled over three of them in a Volvo showroom last month.

Not enough physical buttons, a tiny boot and worst of all, horrible scratchy plastics on the door cards and console. Of the two different trims I saw on the dashboard, one looked like a kitchen worktop, the other, a tweedy looking finish, was quite nice. But overall I thought quality was lacking and certainly nothing like a Volvo

I have to agree, when I saw the vehicle first advertised i thought it looked great, ultimately I thought size would have been the issue, but like you when I seen for real I was horrified at the interior trim quality, its mostly made up from recycled materials, but that is not an acceptable excuse since this vehicle is Volvos most profitable, being recycled does not equate to being cheap and nasty.

Since I have now saw the reviews and read about the issues owners are having I’m so glad we swerved it

I know it will be said it ultimately is a Chinese vehicle due to Geely owning Volvo,  but it really felt like a cheap  Chinese vehicle exploiting a Volvo badge, especially when you see the improved quality coming from other Chinese vehicles available.

I think I’m correct in saying that at present, unlike all other Volvo models, the EX30 is made in China only ScotT but agree it feels cheap.

I like this cars looks but thats about all

Not a safe car to drive imo as very touch screen dependant

Why pay a high AP just to kill yourself

Like the ID3, it probably has voice control. Which is a joke!

Its made alongside the Smart #1 and Geely Zeekr x  Zhangjiakou China land lol

The Zeekr X is on sale in some EU countries and may come to UK this year.

To Think Austin was years ahead with the Allegro steering wheel ?

i have to be honest i am 50/50 about the EX30

i have one on order and should be here within the next few weeks

there is only me and my partner no rear leg space which is poor to say the least is not a big factor for us

also the touch screen only is not an issue as coming with another vehicle with this setup

the software issues i am sure will be resolved over the next OTA update which should hit within a few weeks i believe

the steering wheel buttons are the big bugbear as on the test drive they were very hit and miss

but the car drives brilliantly from my extended test drive as had it for the whole day and ride quality is excellent and so quiet it was amazing

and the biggest deciding factor is i have incurable cancer so i thought lets go for it and lets see what happens if its not suitable due to the faults then its not fit for purpose and Motability can sort it or swap it

i will give a honest review once it arrives
