RAC are supposed to be there in 45 mins.

If not you can ask Motability for a taxi home that’s what would happen. Fact is spare wheels are a dying option even if you buy one there’s few vehicles with room for one. Partly driven by the demand to reduce weight for emissions or range.

Tyres exploding are pretty rare on well maintained cars usually caused by either under inflation maybe slow puncture or hitting something. Either way it’s a margin case you could also say what if a wheel falls off and I haven’t got a spare really you probably ought to not be driving the car you don’t know what damage has been done for example a damaged brake flexi

Thanks @kezo We are away for a few months, but I’ll have internet coverage so will be keeping an eye on you all and will still be able to post ?

P.S. The £30 canister only covers up to 17” rims

They offered us a taxi but when inputting that we needed one it jumped us up the priority list.  Just as well, as I didn’t have the time to be messing around with cabs and having to collect the car again 40 miles from home.

I really do miss the run flats that I had on countless previous BMWs. I had quite a few punctures with them and just carried on driving normally until I could get a replacement. No hassle or inconvenience whatsoever. My wife wasn’t in a wheelchair then, but now they would be even more valuable. I think they are only available now if you upgrade the alloys, which I rarely do. Need to do some research.

On my puncture last year, I used the cars gunk and went to Kwikfit, new tyre authorised (also after an absolute age on the phone to Motability by the fitter) and a new can of gunk handed over to replace my used one. First time that’s happened, but very welcome.

If you do use the cars gunk, you don’t need a new inflator, it remains fully useable afterwards.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

Update – collected the replacement emergency tyre repair gunk from my BMW dealer today just before we go away for a few months. Phew. No charge.

Excellent news, have a great time 🙂

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Have a good holiday, when ever and where ever you going I hope its sunny and not raining!

The 330e is out basically, with a minimum of £4k of options, its a no go especially on the scheme.

Thanks Kezo. There will be some rain, but it’s the Caribbean so it won’t be such cold rain and the heat will soon dry it out ?

I was going to ask you how you got on with the 330e. I configured one last night online and, exactly the same as you, would want to add £4k options, which put a real downer on it. Also, I had a quick sit in a 3 Series saloon at the dealers today whilst they fetched my tyre gunk and it felt so low down getting in and out of it I don’t think it will be an option anyway. I’ll check it out properly with my wife when we get back in March before completely ruling it out.

                          To be more specific

                          Comfort pack

                          Leather

                          Visability pack

At least the basic Tech pack ontop of, so it gets even more expensive.

It was as low as our 420d, which put my wife off because of daughter.
