      Hi all,

As some of you may know, i ‘won’ a place in this years London marathon. I took up running a little over a year ago, the full story of how it came about can be read on my charity page –

      https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TrevHunt

I don’t normally raise money for charity, 1st time for as long as i can remember – but this is a tough challenge and if a few quid can be raised for Mind to help raise awareness, and help people suffering from this terrible illness, then that has to be a good thing. I suffer from mental health problems myself, as do other members of my family, unfortunately i lost my grandad and brother to it. So it is something i have a very strong connection to.

If there is anything you can give, no matter how little, it is very much appreciated, and the link will stay active until marathon day – Sunday 28th April so donations can be made at any point up to then.

I believe there will be a tracking page and/or app available nearer the time, so if you wish you can see how I progress through the marathon on the day. I don’t collect my race number till the day before, so will update this thread with the info when i have it for anyone interested.

More about the charity Mind can be found here – https://www.mind.org.uk/about-us/

      Thank you

Trev fantastic my friend I will be telling my family and auld codgers about you the next time we meet. Things that I know I can’t do impress me the most so I am sitting here mighty impressed.

I take it the wife will be looking after you tonight, making you a meal, running you a bath, giving you a massage and just treating you like the top guy we know you are.

                  Well done.

Cheers guys, that was tough, hit wall at 18 miles but wasnt going to give in.

I’m afraid things not that simple Brydo, stuck at paddington. Due to fire at Reading trains not running at the moment, so stick here a while.

                    Meanwhile….

I cannot even begin to fathom the effort and determination to complete that Trev, and then all the training days before the big event

Even if I was fit n able I know I’d have gave up on my first day after about 2 miles lol

                              Sunday.

Dear Diary, Dear Diary,  what has happened today

Well, our Trev ran the London Marathon, yes, all the bloody way

Like thousands of others he gave of his all

26 plus miles wow, without even a fall

Tomorrow he’s gonna be aching , but still with that great big smile

He  knows how tough it was , tougher for every mile

But the training was worth it , yes every ache & every pain

For himself, his family and charity all of whom did gain

A hero , and a gentleman, that’s Trev the Marathon Man

A guy who will help anyone in need if he can

But it’s off to bed early tonight young Trev

After just one or two glasses of your favourite bev

And we’ll be toasting you also in places far and wide

Thinking of your achievement and also of you with pride

So Dear Diary  time for us now to wish him a fond ‘ciao’

Celebration is great, but it’s time for Trev’s well deserved rest now

LOL cheers everyone, your support as always means a lot to me.

I made it back home at around 8pm last night, they opened the train line back up and it was a mad rush to see how many could fit in the 1st train running…. yes, i was made to run for the train with suitcase in tow.. not ideal, but made it.

Mike, thank you so much for that poem, that is really touching, just beautiful mate.

Mike, no celebs spotted – but to be honest i wan’t looking, there is so much to take in, to make sure you change clothes as late as possible, not missing the luggage lorries, your mind is quite occupied on those things. And during the run it’s so crowded and supporters shouting your name all the time, very overwhelming.

Legs they stiff today Brydo, managed a 2 mile stroll which loosened them up, then sat down for 5 mins and back to square 1, but they’ll come back to normal – aim to try a little recovery run tomorrow. The blisters on my toes i put blister plasters on and i’m not going to remove them till op day on Friday.

Feeling very fatigued, having to take sugary drinks which i normally detest, but they help… it’s all a learning curve for the next one LOL

Nooooooo surely not, maybe its your OCD kicking in but this is one routine you want to avoid. Not sure if I’m coming out in sympathy with you but I’m knackered today and I just finished off a strawberry cheese cake, ice cream topped with double cream, I think I ran every mile with you yesterday and where’s my medal lol.

Take it easy and best of luck on Friday.

Only thing about this op is I won’t be able to run for 4-6 weeks, oh what will become of me! Fortunately i’ll be able to go for walks though so that will have to do.

So, are you priming your body for summer swimwear Brydo?

I’ve got a cracking pair of budgie smugglers for the summer but when I put them on the budgie looks as if it has a big fat parrot siting on its head lol.

Thanks for that image Brydo lol

Tell you what mate, since marathon training, and then being injured and not being able to train i noticed some things, like when training i couldn’t lose weight, yet my body looked a lot trimmer. When not training i was losing weight, but getting more of a pouch around the mid-drift.

So i’m now taking the approach it’s better to weigh a bit more and look fitter, then weigh less and be more ‘frumpy’…. go by how you look and feel, not by what you weigh.

Brydo, just thought, 2 of the signs i most liked which supporters made were –

If Theresa May can hang on in there, so can you!

                                              and

You are running better than the government

There was also one which said ‘slap here for power’ and it was photo of Boris, Farage and Rees-Mogg… i couldn’t make a decision so soon, so left it.

Lol Trev let’s not confuse the iconic London Marathon with politics,

                                                1. Thousands of people give there all over a 42k route and raise millions for good causes,

                                                2.  The others go down the route of taking 42k and ignore the millions, and do nothing for the thousands of good causes.

Went for a 5 mile walk today though which was nice to loosen the legs a little.
