Popped out to get a prescription today, must admit I preferred the social distancing thing..

Not fussed on the general public standing closer and closer, tbh not fussed on people anyway, love alone time, i.e motorway distance driving , I go at night, fishing prefer no one else around, out and about prefer to blend into the back ground or find my own space..

Theres a quietness of night I enjoy,..

      How strange ?

I do love driving on the motorway at night listening to LBC talk radio. We visit Cornwall 4/5 times a year and always drive back through the night when the M5 and M6 are quiet. Quietest I’ve ever seen was 3am on Easter Monday, services were deserted, lovely.

Yes nothing better Jojoe, than a quick pit stop from deserted motorway driving and a cold breezy night walk to the empty services to wake up..

Been pretty much back to normal for ages up near us, except if you go to the doctor’s.

I used to drive at nights for work, a lot better than driving during the day, although having adaptive cruise has made a huge difference also.

I don’t really do it much now but used to drive up from london from my mum’s to ours in the midlands almost south yorkshire and i’d leave at around 3am to get home to do the school run on a monday morning to give my brother a break for the weekend from looking after our mum.

I never go into the services I always used to stop at northampton / Silverstone  services and just go to the bp garage as it has a wild bean cafe and is alot less distance to get to the toilet.

Night time distance driving defo works for me, when I see these news flashes of miles and miles of waiting traffic it’s just awful..

Anyone find themselves stepping away from people more often now, or slowing up to stay from others while shopping..

I often get someone lean almost touching me to reach for stuff on a shelf, it just seems that social distancing has engraved its way into my spacial awareness…

Few times there was road works and m1 was closed and was chaos trying to get off the slip road and once the diversion was impossible to follow think some drunks messed with the signs and it took you back to where you came off.. So can be a pain sometimes?

My ora i think repells people and my wife attacts them? I cannot use public transport or be trapped with people listening to their life drives me insane? always ends badly? guess getting runover when your 9 didn’t help?

Totally understand the public transport thing can’t do it at all, also medically advised no to..

Cant say I ever used it much anyway tbh, the whole process is just not for me..

When you pull up next to a bus at the lights in awful weather, it’s like a pot of human disease soup in there…

My daughter has to use buses, some journeys are 90mins+

She always tries to sit as far away from other passengers as possible.

She calls them “Incubators on wheels”

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

That’s great description Phaedra, thing is 90+ mins travelling time can give the mind plenty of time to think these things, even question why put yourself through it sometimes I guess..

                        Alright ajn

Yea I know exactly what u refer to. I’m tending to look at people now with suspicioun lol I’ve spent so long trying to avoid close contact outside family that Mrs w and I have become virtual hermits lol fortunately we both can work remotely from home but even given that covid came to our door end of last month. Am only just testing neg now and still feel like 16 stone of smacked tripe. But yes have spent so long social distancing that in my rather warped mind anyone who gets to close gets ,rather unfairly, told to naff off. I to like a big of lone time, time to process think it’s good fot the soul ?

                        Respect……..wheezy

Thanks for the insight & reply Wheezy, as for hermits yeah I can relate to that, Mrs aj calls it bliss…

Hospital next week, seriously don’t enjoy that, don’t mean attending my appointment, no that’s fine, the whole process of other people, loads of them everywhere, yet no real interaction, just racing around everywhere…

Funnily enough Mrs wheezy has the same approach as Mrs aj she always says “as long as we get left alone , I’m happy” have to say I totally agree with her. The bestest of best wishes from us to u on ur hossy appt next week. Mrs w always hates it when it’s my turn I get a bit tetchy in crowded places

Hi wheezy, I am fine, sat next to the fan to stop me from melting,

I don’t mind staying in the car if it is my choice, what does annoy, is being forced to stay in the car due to not being able to find an accessible space. Like yesterday, I would have loved to go to a local car show but it was being held on the town car parks and most roads around town have now been designated permit holders only. I don’t fancy getting frustrated trying to park and then the worry about whether I will be able to get back in my car, especially in this weather, as it just drains all my energy, so I have decided it is less trouble just to stay in.

AJN, I’m not a fan of crowded places, I easily get overwhelmed with too much activity especially noise. I treated myself to one of these, thinking it would help me get out more in the open. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find the cable to plug myself in to the battery, so usually run out of energy way before I get far. It does make life so much easier though, I can now go out without having to have someone to push me, which is great for hospital appointments, being able to nip down all those long corridors. 🙂

ady love the trike and the ability to be out and about…we’ll done you..looks quite rugged too..

Fortunately I can still get on a two wheeler even ride it well enough to stay on it, just not the power to get places I’m used to going cycling and the type of riding I enjoyed..

However soon as I seen a fold up electric off road type bike, I got one…

Again fortunately my Son does the lifting in out folding set up stuff in/out the car.

Then it’s a case of press the lever and whoosh…

it’s had a sort of remap, so can just take straight of from stop…

Great pic too, so much easier than trying to explain with words..?

Oh yeah sorry the crowed spaces & waiting room situation so glad to get out and away, done to much interaction with others to last weeks now…

Glad it’s not just me who don’t like the process of these type places..?

Back home to normality and peace…

I tend to right my posts in Word first as there is no way to edit posts. Didn’t work this time though did it as I still made a bit of a muck up and posted two replies?

The “Hi Wheezy” part of my post was supposed to be in the “Are you a grump thread”

ajn, I would love to get two wheel electric bike, much better for uneven ground and narrow footpaths, not sure I would get away with riding it around Tesco, might be fun trying though.
