      Greetings all,

Now I have searched for anything about tesla cars on the scheme but can’t find anything.

So could some kind person point me to or answer the elephant in the room question

With the almighty push from mb to ev, why no tesla’s on the scheme?

Motability responded to a Facebook question earlier this year about Tesla joining the scheme. They said Tesla business model does not fit Motability and there are no plans for them to join. I think it’s down to the minimal showrooms and servicing / repair garages.

Great news? Why, do you not like Teslas?

In terms of build quality and looks there are better cars on the scheme, however no other manufacturer comes with a very healthy charging network that’s significantly more affordable and reliable as well as simply plug and play for charging.

Whilst I can see why they’re not on the scheme and why they’ll never be, that simplistic charging is something I’d think would be significantly advantageous to disabled drivers.

Tesla are opening up their charging network to everyone else, especially as they upgrade to their V4 chargepoints. The earlier chargers had really short cables and were not suitable for other EV’s.

Currently 1/3 of their UK network is open to all EV’s, thats around 440 chargers at 42 locations.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

That’s good and wasn’t aware of that. How do you know which ones are available for other EVs? Use any particular app?

Fastned chargers now offer plug and go the same as Tesla. You register the car to your app with a payment card on file, then simply plug the charger into the car and it’s starts charging then bills you automatically, no messing around opening apps and selecting payment cards,  exactly the same as Tesla does. I think they all be like this eventually.

Lidl are building 3 new very large stores in different parts of N.Ireland. In each of these new stores they will each have 2 EV charging parking places. I don’t think their is very much interest in catering for Electric vehicles over here.

Ive just checked the app and there are no Tesla chargers open to all in N. Ireland. There are around 80 open to all over here.

I don’t think I could willingly put any money into that despots enormous reserves even if they were on the scheme.

I wouldn’t touch one with a barge pole!

I choose the facelift Ioniq 5 AWD, (when it joins) any day of the week if I were in the market for an EV!

Hello there, if you download the Tesla app it’s got a map showing where non Tesla’s can charge. To use them, you have to register a credit/debit card on the app and you’re good to go. Tesla charging is considerably cheaper than many.

Tesla are an obnoxious company they have zero flexibility and would never work with motability. I’ll wager tesla wouldn’t work with motability because they don’t want their “premium” brand dirtied by association with Motability.

Why the obsession over Tesla they’re not even very good cars in the grand scheme.

Too many horror stories like staff passing round videos from the car cameras like getting caught naked etc
