Pulled the trigger on a Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate with Tech Pack in Gravity Gold for the Wife!

What’s not to like about the deal with £2000 off and a £57,000 for £3445 AP.

Anyone in the West Yorkshire Lancashire border area – highly recommend West Riding Hyundai. Easy place to get to and straightforward upfront Motability Specialist Alison Hirst.

Delivery in 2 weeks but car is with them and the delay is more to do with fitting in with our hectic schedule after just relocating from Sheffield to Haworth.

Daughter calls it the Space Invader Car lol and see where she’s coming from ?

Unless I’m looking it up wrong Bob, the AP is £3,999 (plus £220 extra for the matte paint?) and the retail price with the tech pack and metallic paint is £51,825 (the one on Motability is the 2WD)?

Either way, a good deal. Even on my figures the car will be costing you £15,700 over 3 years, which is only 30% of the price of the car, which is about as good as it gets on Motability these days. Fantastic news that they can get you one in 2 weeks. That must be a record!

That is a really good deal, as long as the Ioniq 5 suits your requirements

I was deducting the £750 upfront payment from the £3995 and doing it rather badly lol ?

We could’ve had it this week if we weren’t meeting our Barristers on Friday – she actually has 2 or 3 in stock for immediate delivery if anyone’s looking. Another Gravity Gold and a white but think that’s got the heat pump so an additional £950.

She’s not sold an EV for months so they’re not flying off the shelves!!!

I’ve also just cancelled a survey for EV installation because that’s free so a further grand saved. Add that to our £350 GCB for the VW Tiguan Allspace exchanged for the Mazda – all in a good day/couple of weeks. Won’t need to do my due diligence for another 4 or 5 years.

                Debs,

Our view is that during 5 years of ownership our old Fiat would have cost 5 x £300 insurance, 5 x £300 service and likely breakdowns repairs and another £200 tyres. All this expenditure is now borne by Motability. Add to that the running cost reduction likely for the Ioniq (although the Fiat was exceptionally frugal!). And, probably more importantly, having the reliability of a new car. That’s priceless.

West Riding Hyundai at Colne in Lancashire. Very transparent no messing about.

That’s fascinating isn’t it, especially as Hyundai do quite a range of EVs. They are popular with company car drivers due to the low benefit in kind tax, but private buyers (who, after all, are the majority of car buyers) just aren’t embracing the change, with only around 7 in every 100 EVs going to private buyers. Just one of the many reasons that the 2030/35 dates had to move.

I’m not sure that Im ready to move to an EV yet but, if I do, I would certainly favour doing as you have done and get one through Motability.

The whole package insulates one from the uncertainty. Insurance issues seem to be in the headlines and certain insurers asking outrageous yearly premiums.

There’s no other way to say it than these vehicles on Motability are unbeatable in every aspect. If I’d been paying the upfront and running costs I’d still have the Fiat and run it into the ground!!

Happy for you on the ioniq 5 :). I might join you in the Hyundai family.

I just saw the Ioniq 6 Ultimate today. Considering between that and the BMW i4. They are both great for taking my mum in and out of the car. She is on a Wheelchair so have to partially carry her in and out of the car. In a dilemma now about which car to choose.

The BMW won’t be delivered till May. I can get the Ioniq 6 next month.

                          First world problems.

                            Thanks Mannan,

We discounted the Ioniq 6 purely on the basis of the boot – the opening was just too narrow for the dog crate! It was long but no where near tall enough. Reminded me of a saloon where the boot comes through to the rear seats.

Quite liked the styling and no doubting it’s a very slippery shape so must slice through the air.

Nice car but not quite as good as the Ioniq 5. I dare say West Riding Hyundai at Colne might put you in one even earlier. They seem to have a few stock vehicles on site.

Thanks for the response. I tested the boot and the wheelchair slid in easily. It would have been better as a hatchback. The i4 is a hatchback and it was easier to put the wheelchair in the boot. The Ioniq was big enough.

I live in Birmingham. It’s over 2 hours away from Colne. I don’t think it would be feasible to speak to them.

I’ll sleep on it and see if I settle for one or the other.

I believe and this is only MY personal opinion that the BMW is just too expensive for what it is especially now its gone up by £500 as well. The Hyundai’s are a far better deal and both fully loaded cars. Like i said its only my opinion but i certainly dont think the BMW warrants its price over the Ioniqs.
