Hello, not been here a while but just a question. I ordered the blue black roof Sportage green line s 1.6 hybrid with the 200 something bhp. I ordered 1st April on the first day it came back into scheme. Not heard a thing said would be august/September then nothing so called they said now maybe February. I’ve noticed that particular model has come off the system though so will my order for that model I ordered several months ago be honoured? My car is 6 years old in February and due another tax and mot along with tyres possibly. Nothing wrong with the car as such just I had to change it and already gone over the 2 6 months extensions they offered me. I’m just worried I won’t get the car I ordered as the only ones are the std Sportage and the gt line I need the s for the boot button and other things to help my hands which don’t come on the std versions. Anyone have an idea of how long they waited and did you get what you ordered in the end? Thanks

I ordered mine from 19th April (same gtline s hybrid), my dealer send me message last week and says “All the April orders should be complete by January-February latest”..

So I think you’ll be getting your soon as well.

If the dealer ordered the car whilst it was still on the scheme, then you will receive the car even if it leaves the scheme.

There has been the odd case where a manufaturer has left the scheme completely and in a few cases people didn’t receive their order, but there’s no indication that KIA will leave.

Unfortunately, there has been some people who ordered the Sportage (not via Motability) as early as February and have been told to expect it by May next year. But they could receive it much earlier.

I ordered mine on the 4th of April same spec as yours, still no news but after going to the dealers multiple times to chase up he made the mistake of showing all car orders he currently had which showed both motability and private customers on, the private customers cars was ordered within a week of 1st contact, the motability customers orders were all sat on until the beginning of July so was never ordered when the paperwork was signed. This was at kia in Pyecombe near Brighton for anyone on here who may of ordered from the same place.

I’m afraid that this happens all the time and is certainly not unique to that dealership. This issue crops up time and time again on this forum with all manufacturers. People are under the misguided belief that the day that they select their new Motability car at a dealership, and it shows up on their Motability account, the car has been ordered. It hasn’t. Regardless of what the Motability website says, or what the dealer tells you, dealers will usually have to wait until they get their next batch of factory build allocations before they can actually order the car. This can sometimes take months, as has been the case with yours.

That is why it is essential before placing an order to ask the dealer if they have available build slot allocations and if they say yes (or they will next month) make it clear that you want a trackable manufacturer order number (not a Motability or dealer order number – they are just admin, not orders) as confirmation that the order has been placed. Until a dealership can provide this, it’s almost 100% certain that no order has been placed.

This forum is littered with threads about why some people wait months longer than others for the same car and all sorts of theories abound, none of which are true. The answer is almost always that one dealer had an available build slot allocation x months before or after another.

To answer the OP’s question, it doesn’t matter if a car is removed from the scheme. You will still get it, as long as it’s actually been ordered (see above).

Glos guy I went in there knowing about build slot allocations and did ask if they had slots still to process the order and they did, other private customers that placed an order a week later, their order was placed properly within a week.

Sorry to hear that Jamie. Very frustrating. As you have found out, having an available build slot is one thing, but allocating an order to one is another. If a dealer tells me that they have a build slot available I always tell them that I will expect a trackable build slot number within a few days and will hound them until I get it. Without it I always make the fairly safe assumption that the car hasn’t been ordered. It’s a shame that it has to be this way as we should be able to trust what the dealer tells us. I hope that you get some good news soon.
