Hi. I’ve been a happy motability customer for ten years and have always opted for a decent stereo. However my next car only has a standard set-up available, so I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade/enhance the system myself.

you would have to ask motability but given their issues with fitting dash cams etc i would doubt it very much i am afraid.

Ah, shame. Thank you for your reply though.

Last few cars i’ve had the standard stereo and they ain’t been so bad at all. My current honda civic even has 2 tweeter in the rear doors as well so 6 overall.

Plus i do like a lot of bass and the door to vibrate. fugee’s do it everytime. Personally i’d say mb will say no, but you can ask. Do they not do better stereo as an added extra. Many do but personally i don’t see the point in spending anything on extra’s.

I know some models of car the higher trims some come with the better sound systems as standard. Guess it depends what you looking for in a car and which car you looking at. I was looking at evs and sure the top leaf has bose as standard.

I personally wouldn’t bother but if you had the speakers replaced by a pro how would anyone know?

Thank you for your replies. I’m getting a mokka-e. There is no upgrade option. The sound system is actually good, but like rox, I do prefer some depth of base. Currently I am in my fourth year with a Cooper s convertible with a harmon/kardon set-up. I had to take an extra year on my lease  and now looks like the mokka won’t be here any time soon (six months wait already). So I am “stuck” with a fantastic car, but was just wondering what the options would be.

                I appreciate your input.
