I am considering a 4 kW solar panel system on our south facing 5 year old detached bungalow, I am already with Octopus Energy Go , our Motability car Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Unfortunately our roof is near 45 degrees, however calculation estimated at 3300 kW

BrydoThat’s pretty steep oscarmax, but as I said it doesn’t make a huge difference. You can get adjustable brackets that would allow you to reduce your angle if you thought it was something you wanted.
February 4, 2022 at 3:16 pm #176120Oscarmax great news, welcome to the ever increasing number of solar panel users. I meant to mention it before, but forgot, there is an optimal angle the panels should be set at i think its 22 degrees, i wouldnt worry too much if you cant achieve as doesnt make a great deal of difference but worth mentioning.
Our roof elevation is 30 not 45 degrees, everything looks steeper these day looking up from my walker.
Use the Energy Trust calculator for our postcode the optimum roof elevation is 30 degrees 4 kW estimated to give 3340 kW, 25 degrees 3326 kW and 20 degrees 3329 kW, we will be using a 4.4 kW system so an estimate of 3674 kW ?

BrydoMy system was calculated to produce 3200kwh and 11 years later its still generating over 3000kwh
February 4, 2022 at 4:23 pm #176129Our Outlander PHEV 3 year lease ends in June 2023, hopefully they will allow us to extend the lease for another 2 years, to date we have only covered 10,500 miles in 20 months

February 4, 2022 at 5:12 pm #176133To be honest I am more than happy with the Outlander PHEV

February 4, 2022 at 8:47 pm #176144Here in the Southwest pigeons have taken to building nests under Solar panels and they can have 2 or 3 broods per year. So might be worth proofing them while the scaffolding is up? Newer panels might not be so protruding as ours but just be aware I’ve had quotes of £600 for the job re scaffolding health and safety etc managed to get them done for £320 off a ladder
February 4, 2022 at 9:01 pm #176145Dogboss me and my son completed the the job ourselves, cost about £250 for materials to cover two banks of 8 panels each, took us about 3 hours.
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.February 5, 2022 at 10:00 am #176178I have dropped an email to my solar installer regarding bird mesh around the panels.

MickyI’m told if you accept ( free ) offer of solar panels it could effect the sale of your house ,should you want to sell it any time ,a third party that owns solar panels has a concern ??.
