June 9, 2024 at 10:26 am #279609I use Asda Mobile (Vodafone) PAYG Sim Only, 30 day rolling contract so cancel or change any time.
And, it still gives free EU roaming unlike some.
Unlimited Minutes & Texts with 3Gb Data £5 a month, 5Gb £7, etc. 🙂

June 9, 2024 at 11:44 am #279626Have a look at Money Saving Expert, they have sim only deals exclusive to them, some with cash back. I’m on Talk Mobile 20gb unlimited minutes & texts £8 a month, they use EE.

June 10, 2024 at 9:41 am #279688My drone fone I use 1P mobile.
Instead of a monthly charge its 3 months. What you dont use gets carried over. Its about £20/year. 1p per txt, mb, or per minute call.
Just google 1P mobile, they send you out a sim. No monthly fees, much cheaper than Giffgaff.
When abroad I,ve usually got so much data carried over, I can check my home cameras anytime.

From memory you have an iPhone, go to Settings-General-About and scroll down to Network Provider Lock and it should say ‘No SIM restrictions’ next to it if your phone is unlocked.
If your happy with the coverage that you get from O2 then it’s worth remembering that giff gaff, Tesco Mobile and Sky Mobile all use the O2 network.
Also if you want to keep you number you’ll have to arrange that as well, because if you just install a new SIM you’ll also have a new number.

My car SEAT Ibiza SE Tec 1.2 petrol TSI 2017.June 10, 2024 at 12:30 pm #279704I’m on Asda/Vodafone and my indoor signal has badly deteriorated over the last 6-9 months, so much that almost every call indoors drops at some point. If I go outside it’s better. I’ve had to change mobiles to one that has WiFi calling, that helps but there’s no way to set it to only use it so it keeps going back to the useless mobile signal and dropping calls.
I’ve also tried an O2 Sim with the same results. Both their coverage checkers say I should have no problems, however, using the Ofcom checker it says all four networks are “Limited” for indoors.
I’ve ordered an EE Sim from 1p for £1 to try, not that I’m expecting an improvement but you never know.

Have you tried WhatsApp, you can make WiFi calls using that, I think the recipient needs to have the app as well though.

June 11, 2024 at 8:30 am #279778We have 2 sim free mobiles with BT EE £11.00 each per month, I am out of contract January 2025, thanks for the heads up.
June 12, 2024 at 2:39 pm #281652Got my EE sim from SPUSU, not impressed. I asked for the 1p per Mb Text Call minutes
Letter said nothing about the price but logging into the site it’s £4.50 a month for 5Gb data and unlimited texts/calls, not what I wanted at all.
Signal isn’t any better than O2 or Vodafone or 3 so not worth keeping it.
