Could anyone tell me why the sat nav screen in my new Golf changes colour from white to black as I go along ? When it’s white it’s clear but when black it’s harder to see ! It’s a big 8.5 inch screen and it’s so annoying

Could it be when auto lights are set to on it is when the headlights come on the screen goes to night mode?

Snap. That is what she has got in white and she loves it. I have driven it a couple of times and I think its a great little car. The engine is smooth especially through the 7 speed DSG. I am just waiting for my Tiguan to be released from the dealer.

Not sure about golf but on the Tucson sat nav/ infonet system in settings you can change the screen brightness and set it on auto/daytime/night. I only realised this as mine was set on daylight setting full time, and that was annoying at night with the whole cab lite up like a xmas tree, I set it on auto and even goes into night mode if we go under a line of trees, does this even if Auto lights are off, so I leave Auto lights on, I guess it comes down to preference but I found the screen on bright at night was more annoying.

Always keep my auto lights and wipers on, did in my last car and am in the new one. Auto lights so handy when going in to a multi-storey. I’ve now got the adaptive led headlights, which basically stays on full beam, but dips them when light from streetlights or oncoming cars come in to view… what with that, and radar cruise control, half the time i wonder if i’m needed in the driver seat, if only to steer! Even the sat nav can be voice activated!

Glad you got it sorted Mike,  though makes me wonder where you are where it’s dark at 8.15 in the morning, or was it cinema night last night?

As I was sat in the car waiting I had a flick through the settings and it appeared you can individually set day and night times brightness etc etc this is on a Hyundai so I’m sure ze Germans has the option on VW, my suggestion if your unable to work it out is Ask a Ten year old, they know everything technical.
