Not sure if anyone’s interested or seen it, but just had confirmation from Renault (media team) that the new scenic will be on the scheme later on this month. No prices etc but with the rather good prices on the Megane e-tech, I remain cautiously optimistic ??

I have a very big gripe with this sunroof. I was out and about yesterday and it was raining, not very heavy but just persistent. I was thinking about the big glass roof and then decided to pull the blind open in my Kona. I was very surprised at the amount of noise the rain made when hitting that small piece of glass, it was loud.

I kept it open and was out later when it was dark. From the videos I seen the tint on the Kona glass looks similar to the scenic. Driving along and the constant light, shadow, light, shadow from the street lights was annoying tbh. Also seeing some of the buildings out of the corner of my eye as you drive past was also annoying. In the scenic this would be permanent and I don’t think I could get used to that. And as mentioned they seem to have messed up the design of the boot, fine if it’s only shopping bags etc, but rubbish for most others. Off the top of my head me trying to get my youngest bike into the boot.

So for me that would be the heat pump which I don’t need, the power seat which I don’t need although would like to have massage, premium sound system which I don’t need and park assist which I don’t need. All things I would like but could live without. I do prefer the two 12 inch screens in the scenic compared to the long 21 inch one in the e3008, but both are very good. So the e3008 V2L and kick activated auto boot is the winner.

Car manufacturers seem to be a bit… weird.

I quite fancied the ‘Underbody Welcome Light’ as an option on my new Clio (below). However, Renault in their infinite wisdom, have paired this with bright shiny chrome wing mirror caps – which I certainly don’t want on a metallic ceramic grey car. The car has lots of black accents all over, including the wing mirror caps, and chrome ones would make it look… well, really naff to be honest.

When I ordered the car, I asked the salesman “Can I order the unbody lighting without the chrome mirror caps?” – and the answer was “No”.  Weird if you ask me, but there you go.

I nicked this.. may be of some use if considering..Looks good to me..

we had a very good test drive of the new RHD Scenic today. Some really nice improvements – notably for the UK, for the Iconic version we drove, fully electronic seats that moved based on the profile setting. Really quite different instrument panel as well. The large portrait screen almost seemed too big, with the wireless charging plate being much lower. The electronic tailgate was very good, with closure by holding down the button in the car. Well put together and drove very much like our Megane. We noticed the ambient lighting once again doesn’t extend across the dash, unlike in Europe, but the lighting does run in the rear doors. The wood effect is rather nice across the doors and dash (with the usual fabric topping for the UK). Usefully some nice features to help with range estimation on the instrument panel. Also the button that previously turned off the lane departure system, now acts as a button that recalls all your safety functions in a tap of the button. The regeneration level is also remembered after powering the car off. The centre rear seat folds down in an ingenious way, with ride and comfort back and front very good. Android 12 is used compared to our Android 10 in the Megane. We asked if the dealer had any orders placed, but none had (despite order books being taken for some while). We suspect people want to view and drive the car before any decision. We really liked the new Scenic. Outwardly it didn’t appear that much bigger than the Megane, but is heavier. Inside it felt really roomy and the solarbay panoramic roof was incredible (and incredibly expensive if it broke!). You can even use Hey Google to ask it to adjust the closure/opening of the opaque feature of it! We didn’t initially like the look of the Oracle alloy wheel design, but could probably get used to them (we prefer the Esprit Alpine alloys) and were then shown how the segments of the alloy can be removed to give it a slightly different style. We look forward to the car arriving in the showrooms (around April), to spend more time looking at the detail. The cars in the UK should start to be delivered around September.
