Renault Austral update

I’ve had my Austral 3 weeks now and it’s been amazing and most importantly comfy for my needs.

it’s a bit like the Star Trek enterprise inside but that appeals to my tech head.

The access and comfort is great and everything works well and as it should.

since the 100 trip from the dealer who sourced it for me (Motorvogue Renault in Bedford – best dealership in all my years in the scheme) anyways I’ve only done local driving in a big seaside town.

since filling up I’ve done 317 miles & the til empty shows 323 miles – giving an overall of potentially 640 miles on a full tank with hybrid kicking in lots.

renaukt claim up to 628 miles on a tank , so I’m more than happy on every level

Thanks for this update – the Austral is now on my shortlist.
I always form my own opinion with a test drive and walk around, but supporting evidence from an existing owner is very useful.

Current: MY24 Renault Austral Iconic FHD.
Ordered 5/2/26: Chery Tiggo 8 'Summit' ICE

        Previous Motability cars:
        2013 Ford Focus estate auto.
2016 Vauxhal Zafira 1.4T SE Auto.
2019 Ford Kuga Vignale 1.5 auto AWD. (Ext lease)

Good to hear your enjoying it and grea fuel economy btw 🙂

How are you finding ride handling over pot holes, speed bumps etc, with the torsion beam rear suspension. Are you finding any hesitation when pulling out of a junction quick or or when quicky overtaking?

Post some pictures when you get 5 🙂

              Hi

I can never upload photos to this forum  for some reason and I’ve tried several times in the past .

although the chunkier 20inch wheels are beautiful, there is a little more feedback  over potholes and uneven surfaces (no more than any other car I’ve had) and I find the overall ride  and dynamics very comfortable (eco mode).

I’ve stayed in eco mode 99% of the time , so not tried  the sportier settings.

in respect of overtaking, it’s brilliant –  no hesitation and great low / mid range power executed quickly & smoothly.

I’ve had no experience of any lag or hesitation in the gearbox at all (compared to the Kia Niro and previously MG HS [which in my exp was the worst auto / dct ever]).

the comfort, access and ergonomics plus fit & finish are all fantastic and nearer so called premium brands.

I will try again to upload photos

Menorca Mike – good memory !!

I mag well have said that about the mg when I got it as it was the comfiest car but had several issues with dct and bsck to manufacturer several times with no resolution & then early termination due to ongoing b mechanical issues

the mg for its place in sector, AP at time and spec & comfort was the best far that time but the auto : dct ongoing issues as well as software failing and which dangerously stopping at times – was a pain in the proverbial tbh  & extremely concerning

this Renault austral is on another level of quality, fit n finish & obv miles ahead Ref mpg (pardon the pun lol)
