Is the petrol cap on tight? The only way to calculate real mpg is by doing a proper calculation. I.E divide number of litres it tool to fill the tank and divide that by 4.564 to convert to gallons, then divide the number miles driven by gallons used.
Not to be too pedantic but litres to gallon is divide by 4.54609 👍
September 5, 2024 at 10:08 am #287948Yes will do i hope its just sensor faulty , pleased you found your car, kia ,dealership sounds like one those w***** dealerships.

The worrying thing is, it’s not the first time in recent days, I have got the most basic maths/mumbers wrong because of brain fog! I’ll think I book an appintment with my GP (if I can get one) especially as its a subject Ive always excelled in 🙂
September 5, 2024 at 10:47 am #287956Glad you found what you feel is best for you ,the kia dealership you had sounds very poor, i hope my issue is just faulty sensor , keep updated after goes in dealership 10th ,

September 7, 2024 at 5:17 am #288067Yeah that engine warning light is becoming common for motability cars it seems.
We have a Polo GTI with under 1000 miles on it. We collected it this year.
It recently decided to randomly refuse to start. I initially thought it was a one-off so I carried on and all was ok. A week or so later we picked up our 8 month old grandson and we hit a traffic jam. I popped it into eco mode which started the start/stop rubbish. It then refused to start when I pressed the accelerator. We were stuck in the middle of the road so I had to call out the RAC, but their nearest van was an hour+ away. So I called an Uber to get my disabled wife and grandson back home. The RAC man had no idea what was wrong with it, but we managed to get it back on the drive.
A few days later it happened again (that engine warning light was on this time). The RAC man told me it was too dangerous to drive, so he took it to the dealer. We now have a rental car and have had no updates on what is happening with our car.
However, when the rental man dropped off the rental car he said that his sister’s new motability car had exactly the same problem as ours a few days prior, but hers was a Ford. He had to go and collect her.
So there is definitely something wrong with some new builds and it all seems to be related regardless of the manufacturer.
September 7, 2024 at 8:06 am #288073Interesting, well hope for best.
September 7, 2024 at 8:16 am #288074I’m no expert, but Euro6 requirements have lead to problems with ICE, including hybrids. I grew up with my dad’s small country garage and occasionally helped the mechanic “de coke” the then relatively simple push rod petrol engines. Contaminated valves a common problem. He would have been horrified at stop start and hybrids running engines in short bursts, often from cold.
I turn off stop start each journey and re engage it when suitable – at traffic lights etc.”Italian tune-up”. After a series of short, often congested, trips when traffic permits, l give it the beans in Sport mode, ensuring a number of visits to the red line – a modern day “de coke” and also clearing the contaminants from DPFs etc
Not exactly saving every drop of petrol, but avoiding some of the issues described. I like the concept of Nissan’s or Honda’s ePower, using a small Atkinson cycle ICE to generate electrical drive power, but some HEV and PHEV designs spell trouble for their ICE engines and 12 volt batteries in the long term, IMHO
September 7, 2024 at 9:46 am #288077Am i right in saying no stop start switch on my25 sportage ,but can put into sport each time ,loseing sexy screen linked to weather
September 7, 2024 at 10:02 am #288078Search the internet for both the 2024 Sportage/2025 Tucson, you’ll find its not a common problem as it was with the PPF.
September 7, 2024 at 1:34 pm #288086Well emissions control lamp been on since 2/9/24. ,today on way back from garden center ,my mate noticed ,lamp gone off , but booked in on 10th so still get checked out.
September 7, 2024 at 3:42 pm #288088Nice move. Exactly what I did. Phoned Hyundai about availability for stock Ultimate I5, cancelled the VW order, and 10 mins later vw was off my mobility order and replaced by the Ioniq. You may get the car next week, or a couple of weeks. Depends on how busy the garage is at the moment. My one had to come from another garage which takes time.
But you need the car ASAP, it will be fine.
September 7, 2024 at 11:34 pm #288093@Ioniq if I were to find an i5 in stock would motability still let me order it? And am I right in thinking that the AP for the ultimate was £2049?
September 9, 2024 at 9:37 am #288154@Ioniq – I went on a trip to my local Sainsbury’s a week or so ago, and around the corner on the way home is a car dealership which used to sell used cars, now completely gone and is full of grey Tucsons, so it made me ponder then.
Kia just reaffirmed to be honest, so when I went int0 Hyundai I told them I saw the stock they have the other side of town which were all grey Tucsons (the colour I was going to order in either premium, n line or ultimate)
Collect this Thursday 10am, so pretty quick turn around, really pleased.
September 9, 2024 at 9:40 am #288155Hope all goes good for you.

Coruro Did you go for the Ultimate Hybrid in the end (can’t remember)?
September 9, 2024 at 12:35 pm #288164Yes I went for the Ultimate HEV in the Ecotronic Grey Pearl, Black interior (Confirmed this morning with the dealership as I forgot to ask) which is what I wanted and would have pretty much ordered anyway.
Partner is happy as he likes Tucsons and wasn’t keen on Sportage but i’m the main user of the vehicle as its my sons disability car so doesn’t really matter to him, hopefully this will help alleviate some of the energy depletion I suffer with from driving a manual and get some of my life back by not being stuck in the house all the time! (I applied to change vehicles last October so it’s almost a year!)
I looked at the N-Line styling and I’ve had a couple of sporty looking cars and I decided to go for a change this time, especially being as the other half has just taken ownership (on Friday) of a brand new Transit Custom Sport (made him pay the extra for an auto so I can drive it!) So we now have a sporty van which will be converted into a camper at some point.
Howdy you find the tech on the Tucson, it looks more complex than the ford Sync 3 that’s for sure!

The Sportage/Tucson are basically the same car anyway, so there isn’t an awful lot betweebn them tbh.
The is a like a year in front of the Sportage, so your basically getting updated software what will be the on the refreshed 2025 Sportage. That said, its worlds apart from Fords Sync 3 that must be at least 8 years old! Never the less is simple and intuetive to use and laid out, with plenty of shortcuts to turn things like ISLA off.
Edit: Mine is Econtronic Grey
