AnthonyAnyone else tried to order their new vehicle and having problems accessing their licence on DVLA website to grant dealer permission? I just keep getting a message saying “It has not been possible to display/match your driving licence”.. Now got to write to an address at Swansea which will hold everything up!

Dealer permission? What’s up with the standard photocopy of your driving licence?
DVLA site works fine for me by the way. Just checked

Hardlife999Can I just add that if you write to driving Vehicle license agency be prepared for a very long wait they are not dealing with any postal queries at present because of reduced staffing they are only dealing with HGV drivers and frontline workers who have licence issues personally I am 5 weeks into a postal query and still not even been looked at and judging by there Tweet page 1000’s of customers are all kicking off about waiting times etc some folks still waiting 10 weeks or more so if you can do it online it’s better but still no guarantee its going to be sorted best of luck

SouthammanI’m having a similar issue.
my licence is a 3 year renewable licence abd runs out in February.
ive sent the forms back to DVLA medical division, who are reviewing.
however that means currently yiu can’t access my licence on DVLA site, so can’t get test drives.
RSA are happy as I’m covered under section 88 of the law, but I’m in limbo lol

Sue MoneyThe problem is with paper licences….DVLA can access a driver’s details but not provide a code to share and I was sent these details in the form of documents by email they have bent over backwards to help… Motability are well aware of the issue but are very inflexible..and have done nothing to sort it..we do nt do it this way…. I’ve sent the info DVLA provided after being given wrong email addresses and no no one contacted me when they didn’t get the info they were expecting….they seem to think the customers can fake it ..? If anything comes via the customer…I’ve spent over a week trying to get my details accepted by them…I’ve been on the scheme for years and not had problems like this. No one is taking any responsibility for sorting this out…. ” the customer is at the heart of what we do”…. No …they are not. They still don’t k now if they can accept the info I’ve sent…no reason given….only “we don’t do it this way..” In the meantime my car remains unordered and the wait time I was quoted. Well who k nows? I am not impressed and really disappointed
October 2, 2022 at 11:22 am #197322Hi @Sue Money Have you tried escalating your case to a manager, or even submitted a complaint about this?
Also my wife had a paper license. She submitted it to DVLA for a plastic license. It only took a max of 2 weeks before she had a new plastic one. Maybe less hassle to do that?. Your point is valid though with Motability though. Please let us know how you get on Sue.
Edit:- just found this article. Are old-style paper driving licences still valid?
Do you need to exchange paper for plastic?Joss

This topic comes up regularly on another forum I am on and for medical stuff, DVLA is pants.

Jonathan SmithMy licence expired in June this year, I have to renew every 3 years. Sent forms etc back in May. Was only contacted by my specialist last week regarding the medical form. DVLA previously said they cannot estimate how long it could take.
My new car should be ready in approximately 4 weeks time. I know they’ll want to see my licence, but I doubt I’ll be able to produce one and still be waiting.
Is it possible for my wife to collect the new car? And use her licence etc, she will be a named driver and is on our current motability car.
