Potential Write Off – Options?

So long story short, I’ve just been hit by another car. My rear axle and driver side tyre are mangled. I’m assuming it will be a write off but will obviously have to wait on garage processing the car and updating me.

I was due to reorder at the start of next month but hadn’t looked at cars yet as I know there are shortages and was hoping to extend my current lease as there are so few choices in the current climate.

I’m wondering now what will my options be? I’m assuming I’ll be forced to choose a new vehicle from the paltry selection available. Anyone any insight into this situation or could share advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hope you are unhurt after the collision.  If the car is deemed a right off due to being uneconomic to repair then your only option is to either choose a new vehicle or leave the scheme.

        Hope you sort something out.

Thanks Carmad. I’m stiff and sore but no major injuries thankfully. I’ll wait to hear what they say about the damage and then it’s big decision time I guess

@Geraldine Also please be aware that there are massive backlogs with regards to any repairs due to parts shortages. Official repair co’s are swamped with cars a waiting parts to complete repairs.

For the time being sit tight and wait to see what they say. So pleased your not badly injured.

For the time being you should be given a hire car until they know what’s happening? Have you been offered one from RSAM yet Geraldine?

If it’s a non fault accident, the other parties insurance will be liable for any hire car costs until your car is repaired (lets hope it is repairable)

I have read elsewhere,  that some cars that would have been written off are now being repaired instead.

Whilst my Audi Q3 was in for repair after a non fault accident a couple of years ago, I was provided with a Jaguar F Pace and didn’t want mine back. So don’t accept a rubbish hire car.

Glad you’re ok ? and good luck.

There’s also a national shortage of hire cars too. Europcar were unable to source me anyyhjng for 3 days & even then only offered me a 3 door manual & I would have to get a taxi 30 miles to collect it.

Luckily I got a courtesy car still a manual but only 5 miles to collect.

Motability can also set you up a taxi account so they’ll fund taxis for you. I had one & they sent a taxi 30 miles to pick me up to take me 5 miles cost motability £52.44 to take me that 5 miles.

They can also arrange a daily payment for loss of use.

And of course there’s a hire car too.

I really hope you get sorted don’t take any BS from motability & if you don’t feel supported fill in the complaint form as then your case appears to get handled by people who seem a bit more shall we say attentive as I don’t want to be rude to anyone.
