Hey all,
When your collection day rolls round and it’s time to pick up the car, does the names account holder with Motability have to be present? Or can the nominated driver do it by themselves as long as they have the PIN number

A nominated driver cannot collect the car without the claimant unfortunately.

Ok thank you. Just trying to plan ahead.
And if a parent is on the account as being able to act on behalf of the actual claimant would that be the person that could sign with the pin?

Apointee you mean, then yes no problems in you collecting.
July 8, 2025 at 5:29 pm #308032I’m an appointee for my daughter and can order and collect a car 🙂
July 8, 2025 at 5:42 pm #308035Yes appointee, that’s the word. Cheers Kezo, always appreciate your feedback
July 10, 2025 at 10:53 pm #309408If you ask the salesman nicely and explain why the account holder can’t be there (heath conditions etc) they might be accommodating

July 15, 2025 at 11:29 am #309601Under the Equality Act 2010 motability car dealers are obliged to offer home assessments test drives and order by phone and delivery if you are disabled and cannot visit dealership. As Some may know I had to go to the Ombudsman and he was very angry at my treatment by Motability and there dept that has Equality said it is a breach of the act under reasonable Adjustment. Anyway Motability abided and gave me permission to order and have delivery and my pin was done at my home on laptop and dealer was over a 100 miles from me and everything went well. Remember Motability has a Exceptional Circumstances like they did under covid. The WAV for disabled has home visits and delivery orders from your home so why not disabled who are unable to visit dealers not have this as it sounds like a two tier service and Motability said that it was due to more tech on WAV which is not true as many for one cannot  afford a drive from wheelchair car and some of our cars need a lot of tech in the same.

I can remember you going to the Ombudsman, but couldn’t remeber the outcome.

I won?
July 15, 2025 at 1:07 pm #309607Yes Kezo I got letter from Motability and I think they thought they were right but I stuck with it and the outcome last October 2024 they told Motability to let me have order over phone and to deliver it which was how it should have been as in the future there might be no dealerships or non near us to be able to get to Tesla is a bit like this but not on Motability.
July 15, 2025 at 1:09 pm #309608Sorry forgot to add the dealership was so helpful in face the best I have had while on the scheme nothing was too much trouble and went smoothly. There are some dealerships that I had arguments with about Equality act as they do not care.
