MarkHad an MOT and service booked in over a month ago with a loan car available as usual. Dealer transferred all there peugeot business to another site owned by the same group.
Had phone call advising me of the change of location and assured me booking plus loan car was still available.
Turned up this morning t be told they don’t have any loan cars and they no longer do them for services.
Told we could wait in lounge for 2 hours or more or basically sod off and re book.waiting was not an option so had to re book.
Just wish when people say something they follow through with it.

I wait with mine my Citroen Dealer never takes long doing it. They even let me bring the car in before opening time so they can make a start on it straight away.

July 3, 2023 at 1:56 pm #225168As always, it’s hit and miss with dealers what kind of service you get whenever your car is in for work.
I can’t fault Snows Peugeot Portsmouth for example. My 208 GT was in for its 2nd service a few weeks back. They gave me a new 3008 to run about in for the rest of the day. Later that day, they rang to say that I needed two new front tyres. They had non in stock until the following day, so keep the 3008 for another day and we’ll ring you when your car is done. Picked up my car mid afternoon the following day… and they didn’t even charge me a penny for any used diesel in the 3008.

MarkUsed to be like that at the yeomans Bexhill we have had a loan car overnight previously and they called when car was ready.
All the Peugeot business has transferred to Eastbourne but I was assured that our loan car would still be available.
Was a bit annoyed to be told when we arrived that they don’t have any and don’t do them anymore.
No more Peugeot for us then.
Motability offered to do us a taxi for when we rebook which was something I suppose
July 3, 2023 at 3:23 pm #225180Courtesy cars are getting rarer as time goes by, give it a couple of years and they’ll be for elites only.
Our Mercedes dealer does do them but never has one available no matter how early we book. We used the taxi service MB arranged last time and it was fine. They set an account up and told us we could use it as much as we needed until the car was ready.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

RogerWilkoYes, our local main dealer, now actual Stellantis owned, not franchised, put me off Peugeots for ever.
went to look at the 5008, no car parking spaces, very full with cars, and they had put non registered cars in the two disabled bats. Wife went in to complain and they didn’t give a damn, no interest in moving them and expected me to park outside the franchise on the publuc highway.
Wont even look at their cars now
July 3, 2023 at 4:27 pm #225197The rule of thum is that you usually get better service from the smaller franchised dealers than the large groups, as staff are usually retained longer and have an ehtos, many of the large dealer groups rotate managers regulary while everytime you go in all the sales people have changed.
I used to work for a small independent franchised dealer many moons ago and can state that in general the customer service was outstanding in all aspects, it was quite a shock to the system when as a customer I started to have interactions with other delaerships.
I had such a appaling customer service from all the V/X dealership in my area of the NE that I ended up taking the vehicle to a smaller independant dealership up towards the borders an hr away.
Your not even guaranteed good service from the premium brands have experienced terrible service from Alfa.Merc and BMW dealers whicle I have had excellent service from Citroen, MG and Fiat delears the factor in all was that the good service was provided by smaller dealer groups and the bad was nearly always from the larger delear groups and I can only see the situation getting worse.
July 3, 2023 at 5:00 pm #225200I could write a book abour Evans Halshaw and their cant be bothered rude/poorly trained/staff
I even tried their next nearest sales/service dealership and to my horror found them to be just as bad
I think they are cloned
Never again will I go back to a Vauxhall dealer
My list is growing as I said the same about Seat

MarkI’ve booked at another dealership group who said I can have a loan car so fingers crossed all goes well
July 3, 2023 at 6:34 pm #225215sorry to hear the hassle you’ve had but it’s rare to find a decent dealership and I’ve had some terrible experiences with dealerships but there are some good ones too. Courtesy cars are indeed rarer than ever.
I think the criteria for and membership to be an Accredited Motability Specialist Dealer, should be more stringent. And a ‘mystery shopper’ programme for it too, both i’ve suggested to motability operations in the past.
Anyway, on a positive, my experience today with Motorvogue Renault in Bedford was exemplar & I’ll be writing to Motability Operations to sing their praises – credit, where credit due.

MarkIn my head it was like that sweary scene in Planes,Trains and automobiles when Steve Martin wants a rental car at the airport

Fully agreed. If you’re a Motability Specialist, you should at least be offering a loan car OR a collect and return service for your Motability customers. Expecting someone to sit and wait when you have no idea of their disability is discriminatory at best. But all these decisions on what services to provide are based on cost.
July 4, 2023 at 9:58 am #225291Me too V/X dealers un my local area be it E/H or Bristol Street were shocking.
You couldn’t get parked at the E/H dealership even at 8 in the morning, no spaces cars parked within inches of each other , found oil dripping on the drive thought the lazy tech hadn’t cleaned the filter change oil residue but found that the entire undertray was missing, apparently removed as part of recall asked for it back told I couldn’t have it as it had been destroyed would have been nice to have been informed.
Tried another one only to find upon picking the vehicle up there was loose tobacco, a pair of car keys and lighter on the drivers seat apparently the valeter had lost these earlier and had been looking for them! Got half way down the road noticed the steering wheel was at least 90′ out and the airbag light illuminated!
Picked the sons car up from B/S after it had had an MOT and full service, drove it home parked it up but didnt leave it in park noticed the hand brake had a lot of travel on it, started to get out and the bloody thing started to roll back put it on a jack and found that the handbrake was not holding at all, phoned straight back but unfortunately with it being a bank holiday weekend no one from the workshop would be avialable until the Tuesday so bring it back then!
One of the reasons we went with the MG was that I couldn’t fualt the customer service we have had from the dealer when it was a Mitsubishi franchise.
