I’ve just received a car parking charge from the dreaded UKPC. I know some car parking companies add an an hour grace for Blue Badge holders but there is nothing on their website to say that they do.
Has anyone ever had any dealings with them?

If you have been issued a penalty higher than this I would apeal. If its only £50 I would pay it and save yourself the stress and heartache of trying to get it cancelled unless you have good reason to.
There is a 10min grace period before a PCN could be issued, that was extended from Highways and council parking to now include private parking firms.

Private parking fines on private land are not real fines, rather an invoice and not legally enforecable but…..

April 8, 2023 at 2:43 pm #218272We had a two year battle with them, eventually they backed down the day before it was due in court.
With the benefit of hindsight I wish I’d just paid it, winning wasn’t worth the time, effort and frustration of fighting them. But I’m a stubborn sod.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

Iain WatsonTell them you’re not paying it ,ask for all the evidence and proof of non compliance and they will go away after you ignore them ,only if you can put up with the hassle.I don’t tolerate these thieves, it’s never 100% legal
April 8, 2023 at 6:28 pm #218299If you want to fight this ticket then the place to go is the Pepipoo website. There are experts on there that will tell you exactly where you stand. They’ve helped me in the past so I recommend them 100%. The private parking section is here:

April 9, 2023 at 9:34 am #218325I’ve had this twice with this company, 1st time was in a car park with free disabled parking but I couldn’t get in a disabled bay as they were having some work done and all the bays had work vans in them, 2nd time was for a car I no longer had.
Both times I just ignored all letters, the first said I could get reduced fee if I paid it straight away, then after 3 like that it was from a solicitor saying the same but the fee had increased, the next threatened an escalation to a barrister, then came a letter from a barrister in London saying the same and how if I paid now I would get a discount otherwise it would be escalated to court.
The 2nd and last letter threatened court again but with a higher fee again and a one time offer of a reduction if paid within 7 days.
That was the last I heard from them, I checked on who the barrister was and turned out he was used by several parking companies to send threatening letters but nothing ever came of them.
it’s been 7 years since the last one so I’m safe.

olpkThe info you posted shows there isn’t a £50 limit.
The government didn’t implement it.
April 11, 2023 at 11:10 am #218672Hi Dougie B
As others have mentioned there is a lot of info on the net regarding these parking scammers check if they are members of an appeals body such as popla etc.
All car parks should have a grace period especially for disabled and single parents with children.
It would be intresrting to know if the car park was part of a reatial park or store and how long over the permitted allowed time where you parked.
If it was a retial park/store contact the manager of the establishement direct ask about grace periods etc.
had loads of these and never paid a penny dont be bullied into paying as there are not parking fines but a parking invioce.

It’s part of a small retail park. I was 23 minutes over the two hours.

Same thing happened to my wife (the local reatial park installed camera’s and put up signs etc and put a limit on how long you could park, previosuly they had been no limit).
I contacted the retial park manager direct, didnt even bother with the parking company.
Wrote them a letter explaining how much we had spent in the park and was disgusted to recieve a parking charge after spending so much money (had all reciepts), I explained in detial the dissability and how its effects on doing even basic things like shopping it takes much longer etc the stress getting this charge has cuased and qouted the equality act etc etc.
I sent a photo of the blue badge and copies of the reciepts and heard no more.
April 11, 2023 at 12:24 pm #218682I’ve started boycotting these retail parks who usually have a far too short parking time limit. There is one by me that has a 2 hour limit. It also has several restaurants. Before they implemented the limit we used to shop there then go for something to eat afterwards. With a 2 hour limit is became impossible so they’ve now lost my custom for good.
Serves them right.

AnonymousI received a £100 parking fine for apparently parking in a disabled parking bay without displaying my blue badge from UKPC at the Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes Fife. I always put it on the dash but if not it’s always on my central console and in FULL view of the driver and passenger car windows. I can only assume some supercilious attendant wrote it out as it wasn’t on the actual dash/windscreen. I was going to appeal via UKPC’s own webpage but they charge £5 for the privilege! So I decided to appeal to the shopping centre factors/owners, JLL, and I was pleasantly surprised that within an hour I had a reply stating that they would contact UKPC directly and cancel the fine but to please remember to display the blue badge in full view from hereon in.
