Thank you sir! Its an interesting switch i.e. the fuel change does need a bit of getting used to…….

That said charging it with solar panels and a cheap overnight electrical tariff feels very rewarding!

Will let you know how we get on.

it does look good, i keep telling myself i am going for 0 ap ideally less than the allowance too this time round, trying to convince myself that i dont need anything more than an ignis or juke. but then i see the i3 again and my resolve falters.

                  willpower of a kitkat.

At least it came with it’s own name,,,, “UBU”  good name.

PS, that charging lead looks like a trip and fall in the making.

Thank you for your responses charged it on solar for a couple of hours today I estimate 30 ‘free’ miles. Will charge overnight on Octopus agile tariff which looks like it’s going to be about 7p a KW which a single KW returns 4.5 miles.

1.5p a mile which is bonkers compared to an internal combustion engine……

It’s in a nice way taking up too much of my thinking time, when I drive it, it is eerily quiet and I’ve got over the it’s too small worries I had. Given that I think it looks smart aswell I’m absolutely delighted with it!

If you are considering changing your electricity supplier please consider Octopus and use my code. We get £50 each and I think they are really good! I have no connection apart from being a customer.

Test drove one on Sunday for a few hours. Was funny slowing down and then pulling away from the idiot in the popping and banging focus rs that was touching the rear bumper.

                            Hi Ian

congratulations on your choice of vehicle.I don’t change till June 2020 but was considering extending the lease on my golf gtd but the more I see and hear of the i3 the more I’m drawn to it and I would have the i3s as I like a sport set up when driving and as I turn 50 next year I want to try and retain some youth!?I’ve watched and read several reviews especially those that discuss the braking system so can I ask is it easy to get used to and does it come to a stop by itself at a particular speed as a safety measure such as some vehicles are normally assisted at low speeds but the bmw i3 seems to be quite unique? All the very best with your new toy ?

Hi there I can advise this car is sooo different to anything I have ever had before.

Huge smiles when driving because its so quick off the line and the braking process is really easy to get used to. It teaches you to drive a different way and brakes automatically and gently bringing you to a complete stop without touching the brake pedal at all (brake pedal is available should you need it!).

Inside it feels really Tardis like because of low windows, no B pillar, front seats in the middle of the car. The boot continues to be small but fits my rucksack.

Charging is easy, having the heated seats on and it warm before get you in the car is good aswell as having the news on your media screen, the sound of silence is wonderful.

I am really impressed with the whole package……Oh and did I say we were saving proper money aswell lol!

                                  Hi Ian,

Given recent comments on a BMW X1 thread, how are you finding the seats? Are they well padded and comfortable?

BMW seats are far from bad.

One person with a disability not getting on with them does not make them bad. They are excellent.

At times I wonder whether to get something like an i3 for short journeys.

I’m finding seats really comfortable maybe lacking a little support when I throw it around bends because of the limited bolstering.
