Businesses and venues which can remain open
●petrol stations, automatic (but not manual) car washes, vehicle repair and MOT services, bicycle shops, and taxi and vehicle hire businesses
Does it come under “vehicle hire business”?
If so then perhaps Motability can continue, it’ll be interesting to see what Motability say tomorrow
January 5, 2021 at 3:15 am #134705The full list of businesses required to close includes:
● non-essential retail, such as vehicle showrooms
These venues can continue to be able to operate click-and-collect (where goods are pre-ordered and collected off the premises) and delivery services.

Mike11Can dealers make appointments with motability customers to order their new car ?
January 5, 2021 at 7:53 am #134707A very pertinent and on-topic question Mike11. The answer seems to be no, although if a car has been ordered it seems click and collect may apply
January 5, 2021 at 8:59 am #134712Please see Rybrook’s statement from Facebook below. I appreciate it says 29th December but it was posted yesterday. My car is booked in with Chester tomorrow and what I’ll do is speak to them later. It may be the case that we agree to postpone the appointment.
If you are looking to place an order and have already test driven and decided on the car that you want, then you may be able to continue and order via phone/online.
If you haven’t test driven though, I’d advise caution on ordering in case the the car is unsuitable.
RYBROOK STATEMENT
“Following the Government’s announcement that Chester, Preston and Warrington will enter a tier 4 lockdown, starting from Thursday 29th December 2020 all our Rybrook Volvo retail centres will be closed for face to face sales appointments and walk-ins.
However, we can still assist you with purchasing your New or Used Volvo with an online or telephone appointment. Please contact us and a member of the team will be able to assist you. We can send video presentations of our vehicles or arrange video and phone appointments to suit you.
Our Service Centres are also still open for pre-booked appointments with additional safety measures in place.
All our Volvo Retails will continue to remain open for:
– Online and Telephone Sales Appointments.
– Volvo Selekt Reserve Online.
– Service, Aftersales & Bodyshop.
– Contactless Collection and Home Delivery.”Stay safe All.
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
January 5, 2021 at 9:36 am #134719I recall Motability won’t let you order a car without you seeing it and establishing it’s suitability. Dealers may be happy to have customers place orders for cars unseen but I would check with Motability.

Mike11I was due to pick up March 16 th not ordered yet I understand I have a 6 month extension from motability so can I pick up say May 1st when this is all over ?
January 5, 2021 at 10:54 am #134736Same boat as me Mike11.
You will automatically have your current lease extended by 6-months and this includes insurance cover of course. You can still go ahead and order/take delivery of a new car at any time during those extra 6-months.
I have test driven my next car but not ordered it yet. My current lease runs out on March 4th. As I understand it, Motability will automatically extend it by 6 months – but I’m not sure whether or not I have to personally inform them via phone. I guess a quick phone call to them wouldn’t do any harm and would be good manners.

I admire your optimism Mike but what makes you think it will be all over by May?
By May I think we will be in tire 22 where your not allowed to leave home unless its in a coffin.?
January 5, 2021 at 4:44 pm #134770Just a call from Dealer. My new car ready to collect next Tuesday afternoon. Will be done click and collect. I inspect car and when happy give the pin to dealer for him to enter in showroom. This is following Motability guidelines. After not having a car since October I am looking forward to it even with my only trips out being medical appointments>

lets be honest going to look at and test drive new car is not classed as important
January 5, 2021 at 9:33 pm #134802do you have to go to your local dealership? Recently had a bad experience with Citroen Arnold Clark. So bad Motability ended the lease and the faulty car is being returned. We only have Arnold Clark Citroen dealerships here.
Could I order on the phone or online with a non-Arnold Clark Citroen dealership and they deliver?
I’ve looked at dealers in England (I’m in Scotland) who say they deliver nationally. Is this unheard of? Will Motability not like this?
January 5, 2021 at 10:03 pm #134805
SouthammanNo, you can go to any dealership, if you don’t want, say, your local Citroen dealer, look at Citroen’s dealer lust on their website and choose another
January 5, 2021 at 10:16 pm #134806Can’t go into any dealership locally. That’s part of the issue!
