Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

Anyway I need some advice in regards to ordering our new motabilty vehicle. I was meant to order a Kia Sportage Hev gtline s but unfortunately I am not due until June. And it has been taken off as you may be aware and I have been told by 2 Kia dealers that it won’t be back anytime soon. Cut a long story short the only car I was interested in was the Sportage and almost every other car I am not interested in or doesn’t fit my needs. And also incredibly expensive. So what I am asking is do you think I should wait a further 12 months to see if there are any better additions on the scheme or should I bite the bullet per say and order something now and hope that the scheme improves significantly. (Willing I am still alive lol)

      Thank you for any help.

I think most would agree that extend and wait is a given in the current market if there’s nothing ticking enough boxes for you.</p>

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

It’s a catch 22 who know’s when and at what ap the Kia Sportage will come back on the scheme if it ever will..

Whatever it is it you order it should fit your needs, you could ask to extend your 3 lease to 5 years and at anytime order a car, there are some though, who already done that and have been told to order something asap and likewise with them they said nothing was suitable or the ap was to high for them. What do you do?

A compromise may have to be made.

Personally i went for a car over an suv the last two times on affordability and the truth is i have issues with both getting in and out of all cars, but i do find in my current car once i am in, it’s less painful driving it than an suv.

what do you curently have? and what are you basic requirement, for me thats adaptive cruise control also, that’s made a huge difference for me driving.

I currently am driving a Kia Rio manual at the time it was fine but in all honesty I am now struggling with the manual Transmission. So automatic is very important on our next car. With all the safety features.

Well.. Technically the Sportage is still available.

Just not as FHEV. The MHEV Diesel and Petrol are still available, and the Petrol MHEV can be had as GT Line S too.

That being said, the jump from a Rio to a Sportage is significant, in size as well as economy. Even the FHEVs aren’t “frugal”, they’re just slightly less thirsty than other SUVs of similar size. We managed 41mpg with the GT Line S FHEV, on a route that our current car (1.5 TSI DSG Ateca) usually goes about 45mpg and more.

If the pure petrol variant (or rather, mild hybrid) doesn’t suit you, there is the chance that the new Niro will make it to the scheme at some point this year.

If you’d need other recommendations, if you put down all your requirements i’m sure people will be able to suggest plenty of alternatives (even though they might not your favourite).

The problem is there in no continuity on the scheme anymore. Where as before we could decide on our next vehicle some months prior to placing our next order, with an almost guarantee it would still be available when the time come to place an order. On top of this the ap’s are through the roof which many either can’t afford or begrudge paying making the choice slimmer than it already is.

                  Very true.

It went so far that we took the hit and cancelled our current lease early, to get the order for our next car in before it was inevitably removed.

What I did in the current climate is to first extend the current car then as soon as that’s been agreed by Motability put in an order for a second choice car, in your case the KIA Sportage none HEV.

Similar here but extended then ordered a VW Tiguan R-Line and this car was my second choice over the Tiguan Elegance however its turning out to be a good choice because the first choice model has not returned and unlikely too this year or next and means while things are going from bad to worst I’ve still got my second choice order in and will be more than over the moon with it when it eventually turns up and of course should things get better I can always cancel the car and start again. Hedging your bets I think is what they call it. ?

If you get an order in for one of the other KIA Sportage’s it might not be what you want but its better and near as damn it as having your first choice in an ever decreasing choice with the clock ticking on your extension as already I’ve eaten into 7 months of my extension.
